I've been in a relationship with this guy for about a year, we dated then we decided to just be friends for a while. We still talk all the time and we are technically commited to eachother. Its almost as if were dating without the term "dating".
I've talked to him about offically dating and being each others and he said that it would not be fair to me since he is leaving for tech school. Personally I dont think its fair to have me wait so long, and not know if we will ever date. I need YOUR advice...Please...

This is a tough call, but if you really "love" and care about each other it might be best to just be friends and let each other do their own thing.. Especially, if he is going away to school. It's difficult to maintain a steady relationship that far away and you might miss out on some really great friendships and dating. You can always send e-mails and see each other on vacations and breaks.. If a romance comes of it good if not you didn't waste your time/his. I spent 12 yrs.. on/off mostly on in high school and college/beyond dating the same person and although "FINALLY" we are married with 2 children I sometimes feel that I cheated myself during my college years by having a long distance relationship.. Not that I don't love my husband and I think if we took a break in college that we still would've gotten together anyway.. Good luck

I was in the same situation. The guy was leaving in 3 months and he didn't want to "date". But we eventually agreed that we shouldn't hide our feelings for each other. And when the time came for him to leave, we'd make the decision then on whether to stay together or break up.

5 months is a long time, it's like 20 weeks, 150 days, almost half year! It's not like he's leaving in 2 weeks, so it's not worth your time.

first there's no real commitment between you,so why you commit yourself to him..did he promise to come back to you?...i mean even married person could not really commit themselves when somebody is away...
it's up to you if you treasure him and wait him..
why not try enjoy yourself w/ somebody else...who knows he is also enjoying himself w/ someone else there..

Don't wait for him hun. By the sounds of it sounds like your friend doesn't really like the idea of you waiting anyways. Seems to me that may be his "nice" way of telling you he won't wait. Go have fun, Plenty of fish in the sea......
