Facts:
Women are abused everywhere.*
Domestic violence exists everywhere**
We live in a male dominated society***
Muslim women in eastern countries are abused****
However where Western women have achieved freedom in many aspects of there life eastern women have not.
Why is that? CULTURE!
people make the mistake of mixing culture with religion all the time. Islam does not say to treat women badly , Islam says that both are equal. Hijab is mandatory for women but if they do not wish to wear it there husbands can't force them to wear it because its between them and God. Muslim women get 1/2 of the inheritance because in Islam men is the one who is responsible for money and food and shelter, women get to keep there money. Islam lets women have careers and every freedom.
but where there is good there is also bad.
Muslim countries men treat women as second class citizens.
Even in Pakistan, I used to live there till I turned 12 then we moved. I remember never wanting to get married lol

Arabic societies are highly male dominated.
However it is not in Quran to treat women that way. Quran puts heaven in feet of mother. It is there culture.
My mom tells me things that I can never find in Quran anywhere. Like When I wanted to go and get my Harry Potter 7 book at midnight she said it is a waste of time and money and Quran says not to waste money. but how is buying a book waste of money? Quran says to show that God has given you.
anyway Muslim women need to fight! because if you remember before 1800 something western women were treated the same way. They were not even allow to talk in church until there husband guardian gave them permission too. Women civil right movement came AFTER civil war.
Education is the key. Most Muslim women since not educated don't even realize that they are being abused since they saw there mom treated the same way and there grandma and so on. They need to learn that God has given them rights. the new motion by Irani gov't for every con't

A True muslim even in the east would know how to treat a wife and vice versa.
You see its the character of some so called muslims especially in my culture that put me off marriage in the first place. im not fussed.
Thanks for pointing it out though, sadly most are facts which do happen.

Miss.
I wanted to say tell that to the Taliban but it seems that you are already oppressed enough without wishing them on you. However since your government says so doesn't that mean suffer if you don't?
You are correct in saying western women are also oppressed but only those that put themselves in that position. Most American husbands would tell you they will know what they think when she tells them.
It is possible in this country to be a free Allah loving Muslim. You don't even have to like this country to become a citizen just lie. Dress how you please. Get the education you want. Marry or don't.
You talk about you get half the inheritance. Here she gets half, divorces you and takes the other half.
I hope you have this kind of freedom someday. You know Iran and America have a similar failing instead of feeding everyone first they want to build more guns.
Just like America Iran has vast resources and both have the poor . God Bless!

I would say that in Muslim countries , there seem to be more violations against human rights in general not simply against women. i am glad that someone pointed out that this cultural and not the teachings of Islam. Also, people misconstrued the same thing with the Bible. They feel the Bible oppresses women when in reality it actually provides them with more freedom and respect than secular society could even imagine.

it is imperative for the believing women to cover their private parts (aurat) as not to be molested (by climate, or by indecent exposure, nature has a more cruel punishment to expose skin like premature aging and wrinkles, as well as skin cancer due to exposure to UV rays, the other affects her psychological makeup for vanity, generally)
yes, it is indeed between Allah (swt) and that person's event if one is being disobedient to Allah's(swt) admonitions, but to do so in the presence or consent or toleration of other believer is tantamount of creating graver sin for both the doer and the non doer.As the prophet (pbuh) said, the one who made a sin in the "darkness" and no one knows is between Allah (swt) and that person to which he is accountable, but to expose or tell to someone aggreviate the situation , and that one who have been involved should reprimand or take appropriate action against that sin committed.
so goes for someone who wish not to act properly(as donning hijab) in the company of those who adhere.
muslim women, 2nd class citizen in a territory is true only if this women don't know the proper law on their status, but is not true to educated muslim women who knows the correct ruling.Being 2nd class is all in the mind if one have no knowledge.
Assume we're in the military, one is a regular army, the other has undergone several elite training exercises and experiences. Is the one a 2nd class citizen? They are not equal, one is a better fighter, but they are still both citizens with same status.
