The United States is a big contributor to global warming. There are now droughts and floods. Ice is melting and some island nations are expected to disappear under the additional water.

Do you think underdeveloped countries will hold responsible the United States and other developed nations?

Good grief! Have YOU ever been brainwashed! But as far as your question goes ...

Of course! Why not? The U. S. is held responsible for everything else that goes wrong in this world, so why not be held accountable for global warming? But the last people in the world to hold the U.S. accountable are undeveloped countries. Who else is going to give them the money and technology they need to become a developed country? China? Not without strings ... Russia? HA! The EU? Double HA! Canada?

We should also be held accountable for providing the world the technology to REDUCE emissions and industrial pollution. We are also providing the technology that reduces so-called "greenhouse" gases, but what good would that be to "under-developed" countries who still chop down trees for fuel and burn coal for electricity (read CHINA and INDIA! Two countries that SURPASS the U.S. in carbon emissions)

We should also be held accountable for providing the world with this internet that we all appreciate using - but be sure to thank Al Gore, since he says he invented it! ...

I say that all countries who blame the U.S. should have their foreign aid cut-off! And if the World Court SHOULD rule that the U.S. is to blame, well, then we should all drop trou, bend over, and give 'em all a great big, yankee-doodle SMILE!

That would be interesting - the US is certainly the most to blame. We're responsible for the largest percentage of the anthropogenic atmospheric CO2 concentration, we've got the most CO2 emissions per capita of any developed country (and more than most developing countries, except a few in the middle east and a few islands, mostly US territories), and we're essentially tied with China for the most total CO2 emissions as a country.

We're also a wealthy country with the means to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and with some of the best scientists in the world telling us that we need to reduce them. Yet we're not making any effort to do so on the federal level (a few states have taken steps, such as California and New Jersey).

An underdeveloped country which were hit hard by the effects of global warming (such as Ethiopia) could make a pretty damning case against the US with that information.

Exactly what would they do even if they did find us "liable?"

There have ALWAYS been droughts and floods. The poles melt and freeze EVERY year. Though more melting than freezing has been occurring ever since the end of the ICE AGE.

Islands disappear and others appear (there is one that will rise from south of Hawaii soon).

What a good question! I believe that the U.S. will be blamed even though like the previous answers stated we are not the leading contributor......this is because the expectations that we have are higher than any other country in the world we are held more accountable for our actions than countries such as China or India......we have gotten to this stage by becoming a worldwide powerhouse in industry and by our military....we need to set the example which I believe we are starting to do by lowering our co2 emissions.....I hope this helps

God Bless,

Evan

If it even is caused by man then mankind will be held liable for global warming so stop pointing the finger that's not going to get you out of your sentencing . Best off to try to come up with a solution . I don't know if you noticed but we are all on this planet together. Even the undeveloped country's have there hand in it somewhere like owning a car or maybe a generator . Mankind will be judged as a hole .

No. Because the US is not the only contributor. And not even the largest any more. China has passed the US to become the #1 emitter of CO2 in the world.

Actually, China is just as big if not bigger contributer as well due to the enormous amounts of methane gas released by rotting rice patty fields and such. Of course America has "something to do with it" but so do other developed countries.

The world blames the US for everything already so why not. But then again how gives a flip. give them a few ICBM's a half a mile above their head and show em what real warming is.

The world court does not have juristiction on this and thus, will most likely not take the matter up at all. If it does, its findings will have no force of law and will be ignored.
