I am 26, I believe in God, read and believe in the Bible but do not come from a overly religious family and never went to church as a child....

Today, I pray daily, read the Bible often but still do not go to church.......The way I see it is that as long as you believe, you do not need to go to a particular building or place to worship and pray and that God will hear you no matter where you are.

Is there anything wrong with that?

Great question. As a child, I grew up in church and in my early twenties drifted away for awhile. I was saved, but let the devil get in little by little until I was drinking, doing drugs, etc. on a daily basis. I am now 29 and since then have asked Jesus to forgive me of my sins and found a great church. I now have a family and knew that hearing about Jesus and feeling the holy spirit from preaching and the music ministry was missing from my life and my children need to hear the truth because the schools do not provide it anymore.

It is important to find a church full of the holy spirit, so visit different ones and God will lead you to the right one. I am Southern Baptist myself, but denominations don't matter to God. The biggest argument against Church is that there are hypocrites in it. I know that I'm not perfect and God knows this, but we should try to do the best we can. I go to Church for God, myself, and family. You will always find others that will persecute you for your beliefs, but God is what matters. I have been a member at my Church for five months now and thank God for it. I have never felt pressured to do anything that I haven't volunteered to do. Finally, I believe you just don't know what you are missing. Try visiting and make your decision based on God. God bless.

I would say that you are spiritual but not religious per say because you did not mention if you perspective to a specific religion or denomination. I would say that there is nothing wrong with that but because you asked this question it seems you are unsure yourself. Why don't you look around your neighborhood and try to find a church to attend. Not only will you learn more about God but also you will meet new people who can help you better understand the role o a Church in the life of Christians.

On churches God said Heaven is my home and the earth is my footstool, how can you build a house for me? Man, the priests decided you must go to a building to worship, god did not.
Jesus said to not pry in the synagogues like the hypocrites but pray in private and the father who sees all will reward you openly. Churches teach the opposite of that.
Churches teach the words of men like the apostles, John Calvin and others instead of the words of Jesus.
You do well to study on your own and leave the churches alone.

No, nothing wrong with that. Best to get firmly rooted in what the Bible says before attempting to attend a church, as many have created their own theologies which do not mesh with Scripture.

Next question you need to ask yourself is, what exactly do you believe? That God exists? Well, even the devil believes God exists.

Time to dig deeper.

Is there anything wrong with that?

It's not that something is "wrong" with it as much as there is something that is "missing" in it. The Bible teaches that God gives us all spiritual gifts that we are supposed to be using to serve one another.

1 Corinthians 12:7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

1 Corinthians 12:12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--Jews or Greeks, slaves or free--and all were made to drink of one Spirit.

14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many. 15 If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," that would not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," that would not make it any less a part of the body.

17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? 18 But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. 19 If all were a single member, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, yet one body. 21 The eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you," nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you."

Each member of the body of Christ should be in fellowship with the other members where God calls you to be. In addition to that God has gifted certain people to shepherd the others.

Ephesians 4:11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,

God doesn't call people to be saved and then just leave them to find their own way in this world and be "Lone Ranger" Christians. When you are saved you become a part of God's family and should be hanging out with your brothers and sisters in Christ and learning from the elders at a church like the one that I go to

to procure it. that's between the main important lies of religion. Salvation is purely contemporary in repentance and faith in Jesus. we are advised to no longer forsake the fellowship of the believers. even though it would not say that the church construction is the only place that we are able to try this. If it have been genuine that we are able to't be Christians if we don't flow to the church construction then Christianity would not have survived the 1st century.

I don't see anything wrong with it. I consider myself a Christian but I don't believe in organized religion, so I'm not a church goer. Churches are hypocrites and they force us to believe their way. I rather do my own research and believe my way according to what I read.

You do not need to go to church to get forgiven for your sins, and you don't have to go to church. But, Jesus said, if two or more is gathered in my name, he will be there and I'm not talking about a bunch of hypocrites, I'm talking about real God fearing people.

why be down on yourself? you seem like a decent human! what would church do to improve yourself? as long as you know the differences of right and wrong you are on the right path, the church will NOT give you a pass into heaven! goodluck
