... or He didn't well His job? Wasn't it a big enough price to pay? I mean, He was God's son. Did we even cut down the debt a little bit?

Christ died for our sins. Dare we make his martyrdom meaningless by not committing them?

Greetings Friend,

If I were to accept Christianity, I would say that what you are saying is exactly right. If we cannot save ourselves, then Jesus death saved us. If we can save ourselves, then Jesus died in vain. If we could have been saved by doing something, then there would have been no need for Jesus to have died on the cross. However, If we could not save ourselves, then Jesus' death would be all we need. This gospel is so powerful that most cannot handle it, so they tell us we have to do something i.e. say a prayer, believe, follow a doctrine, or whatever. The point is Jesus either did enough and we are saved or he did not do enough and we have to do some thing, which means he died in vain.

Here's another idea: Maybe, Jesus was showing us something else. Maybe he was showing us that who we think we are is not who we are. We think we are these bodies, but Jesus showed us that we are not these bodies by letting others destroy his. When attacked, he did not attack back, because he knew they were not attacking him anyway because who he was was not a body and therefore unable to be attacked. If he would have attacked back, he would have agreed with them that he was a body but he didn't.

Anyway, you are right - everyone is saved. If the gospel story is correct, then Jesus paid for all our sins and we are saved. If the gospel story is not correct, then it really doesn't matter we are saved anyway.

sending love,

Jesus was God's child, and so are you and every other person. However, Jesus did not die for our sins. He did try to show us the way to save ourselves but we usually don't listen. Most of us would rather have Jesus save us magically. Its more dramatic that way. Totally false but much more dramatic.
Now for a second let's pretend that Jesus was the only begotten son of God. If this was actually the case, and Jesus was destined to be saved by his father, and the whole time he was suffering on the cross he knew and experienced God's ommnipresence and the supremacy of his own impending resurrection, then why do we say he sacrificed for us? What sacrifice is it if he knew the whole time that all of it was predetermined and that he would not die at all but would ascend to heaven?
Hey someone has to think of these things~

The debt is paid, but not everyone wants it.

Many people want to try to save themselves, through their own effort and "good" deeds, that they don't see a need to ask Jesus for forgiveness.

We have not, because we ask not. Jesus values humility.

-------------------------
To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable: "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.'

"But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'

"I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

Yes, you are saved the instant that you believe Jesus died for you so that you wouldn't have to pay the etenal penalty of separation from Him. You then receive the Holy Spirit which is proof of your salvation. It is a part of Heaven in you while you are on earth. Ask God for it. Try it.

Have you prayed to him,and repented of your sins?Have you asked him to be lord and savior of your life?Have you told him that you don't want to spend eternity in hell separated from God forever?Repentance of sin,and believing and trusting him is the way.

No, we must believe that he died for our sins, and accept that he rose from the dead, and also believe that he is the Son of God. Ask him to forgive him of our sins and turn from them.
