I try to live as Jesus taught me.
I don't preach, so I don't have to worry about practicing what I preach. I do not evangelize.
SOME Christians are rude and arrogant. I have gotten the most foul and vulgar hate mail here from fundamentalists than anyone else. Darkspeed, aka ChurchofGod777, has sent the nastiest, most vulgar mail of all.
Some of the atheists here are much nicer than the ones who profess to be Christians.
As for the church being a cult, I say NO. Many are just hypocrites.
Having said that, there are one or two people here who do nothing but attack Christians, through so-called "questions" that they post 10-20 times a day.
That is bordering on obesssion!

Some Churches and Cults have rude members or preachers others do not. I think you would find this in any group or organization that you belonged to.Why do you categorize people only by their religion or lack thereof ? How do you know if someone is a 'nice' Christian or someone is a nice 'Atheist''?I agree that no one should have to put on a show .Perhaps you should find another Church or new group of Christian Friends to associate with because they are not like that at all churches.

There are a lot of folks that think this way.
To start with, the church is made up of people. We are flawed to begin with and it is easier to talk it than walk it sometimes. The bible speaks directly to hipocrites but most of them believe they are so holier than though they miss this.
As far as pushy Christians, the bible adresses this also. If I were talking with you and you were not receptive to it, I am not supposed to beat you with my bible or aggrivate you. I am simply to shake the dust from may sandles and move on. This means leave them alone. The actual goal is to plant a seed in your heart. The seed will grow IF you become curious and seek to find answers on your own, or seriously look at your life and wonder if this could actually make it better. In effect by me pounding on you with the bible, I am pulling the seed up each time to see if it is growing. You know to plant a seed and leave it for when you disturb it you destroy the tiny root system developing.
Lastly, judgement will start in the church. This is bible. That is because of all the arrogence and deceptions that "christians" feel compelled to do. "Do not point out the grain of sand in your brother's eye when you have a board in your own". Inother words, those that point out or are holier than though probably have some skeletins in their closet big time.
I have been screwed over by "christian" brothers and sister (my x wife and her christian boyfriend while we were still married) I have distanced myself from that whole scene for a while. I know God was speaking to them the whole time they were having the affair, but we have free will. They made their choice.
Just as a point of interest, you are judging too. Do what you need to do to please your God, and don't worry about what they do. The devil will sit in the pew next to you sometimes...
It get's hard, believe me i know. Just do the best you can and relax.

your thanking about this in the wrong way. some do practice what they preach, and sometimes they git out of order. God will set them strait. no, church is not a cult, its a place of worship, and you get to learn more of Christ. not all pastors are rude. Christians don't condem any one. the people that do that aren't really Christians they just carry the name. i have found that that's why i went to another church.

A lot of hypocrisy, yes. A cult, no. Many being hypocrites does not make the church a cult.
But my personal biggest problem with some Christians is that claim they know they are going heaven. They know no such thing. And to say that shows that they feel superior to others, although I don't think they mean it that way.
Salvation comes at death and if that salvation is there, then one is re-born into heaven. Simply saying that one "born again" does not make it so.
But you are totally right about many Christians as to their being rude and arrogant. And many think they can commit the same sin over and over and each time it is forgiven. Quite amazing to me.

There are some churches where you actually have to ask the pastors premission for items in your house like a TV or if you should buy a new washer. Things that are nothing more than a decision of the financially responsible people of the household. Then they tell you if you should watch certain movies or TV shows or read certain books. Lets face it that sounds like a cult to me

What does rudeness and hypocrisy has to do with cults? If find most Christians to be nice people doing their best to live in emulation of Christ. Maybe you're just looking in the wrong place.

Whos being rude here, for not all christians are that way, you are putting all christians in the same catagory, it would be like saying All athesits are rude and some can be very nice, yet alot that I have met have been rude. Yet I dont call all of them rude.
So dont put me in a catagory unless you know me.

So,
You do not like "Christians" being judgmental, yet you judge?
You are hanging out in the wrong Churches. Maybe try a Catholic one.
But we are all hypocrites, we try to live the Perfect example of Jesus and we all fall short.
Peace be with you!

I agree and disagree with you in a way.. But i am too an atheist and I do agree with you. My mom is heavy christian and looks down at me because i don't believe in god. But its OK i understand her side of it too. I have pitty and feel sorry for. Like i have said before I believe that believing in god is an addiction, they pay money for it and seems to be all they talk about, and alot of Christians cant stand me saying that but its just one atheist beliefs! but i don't look down on Christians and i respect them very much. I just wish they would respect me too and not say my soul is going to burn in the fire pitts of hell.. LOL alittle harsh..
