My wedding is in October 2008. I know its early, but I've found the perfect one. My only reservation is I don't want it to come in and just sit around collecting dust, or be charged a holding fee. Thanks!

Order it now, they usually take a few months to come in. You are in a good time frame to get yours, plus you dont want to fool around when you have found THE dress, order it now.

You could go ahead and order it now or wait until about 8 months ahead. My wedding is in April 2008 and I am ordering mine next month. Just be sure to give it a few months to get here. Another thing to remember is that sometimes certain styles go out of style, so maybe you should go ahead and purchase it. But...what if you change your mind by then. I thought I had found the one, but then I found another one I loved even more about 3 weeks later. I say give it a few more months. Good luck and congrats fellow bride to be!

If you're positive this is THE dress for you, then I would order it. It does take some time for the dress to come in once ordered. Hold off on the alterations until closer to the wedding just in case, though. You can ask the bridal salon how long they usually leave for fittings and alterations.
The only other advice I would give is to stop looking at dresses after that. You'd hate to have ordered one, then find another one you prefer more!

I have found THE DRESS too!!! It's so exciting!
My wedding isn't until 2010, but I KNOW, without a doubt that this is THE DRESS of my dreams.
I plan on ordering it a little larger than needed, keeping it in a garment bag and storing it at my mother's house, where I know it won't be messed with, or found my by fiance!!!
In early 2010, I'll take it to have it altered.
It's okay to buy now!!!

Order your dress whenever you want to. You can get a garment bag which will keep it from collecting dust and adjustments can continually be made on the dress as your body changes. I found my dress 9 months before my wedding and new it was the one. Why give that up?

Order it now. It will take a few weeks/months to have it made and shipped, plus all of the alterations will need to be done after that. Then you won't have to worry the week of the wedding "WHERE IS MY DRESS?! IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE?!"
Truthfully, October '08 is just about a year away. That's really not that long!

My wedding is in August and I ordered mine in January of this year... It took almost 5 months to come in... so just keep in mind sometimes they do take a while to finally come back. Then you will probably have to have alterations too so just keep that in mind. If you know this is the dress for you, you should go ahead and order it! If you're worried about weight change, you could just order one size up and then have it altered. Easier to make smaller than bigger. Congratulations!

If you're sure you've found THE dress, get it now. You never know what will happen in the next year. They may even discontinue the style, and then you'll be really stuck. Order it now, and if you're in danger of being charged a holding fee, take it home in the meantime. You'll get it steamed again when you're getting your fittings done, so it wont matter if it gets wrinkled.

2 things. Order it now so you will have plenty of time to make any alterations needed.
But watch your weight. It wouldn't do to order a size 2 and you be a size 6 by October 2008!
At least that's one thing you can cross off the list.

Buy your dress as soon as you find it but don't do the final alterations until a month or two before the wedding.
Take it home in the garment bag, store in a cool, dry place with little sunlight and you will be fine.

If u like it go ahead and get it now. however u need to make sure this is the DRESS of all dresses. it took me 2 months to find the special dress and then i knew it was the one. if u buy the dress now u can have it put into a treasure box at the dry cleaners and it will keep it fresh for u...
