I don't really stare at them much.
It's rude, you know.

I don't stare at them, but I do have an affinity for all animals...even the human ones. I do think primates are very special, and I get a kick out of all the similarities. Have you ever noticed how they have human-like teeth, fingers, and fingernails? We went to Boston a few years ago to the Boston Museum of Science and they had the cutest tiny monkeys there and they acted just like people. I watched them for the longest time.

Yes I love the connection, although I'm not an atheist, I'm a polytheist. You can look at the similarities to all other animal and realise the connection we have to the world we live in and our kinship to all living things. Its humbling and makes you love our Mother Nature all the more.
It also makes eating meat of any kind cannibalism.

You just described some of the people I work with. You don't need a science book to know people are apes, it's so obvious. Don't let the clothes and slightly higher intelligence fool you.

When I looked at the apes, what came to my mind was:

God really tried hard to create Adam. He must have tried numerous times before he got it right!

Ha ...When I look at these creatures and really watch them it dawns on me how underestimated they really are. It also makes me think about just how many mortals a$$ they could probably kick in a nice game of chess.

It reminds me of how religious folk are much more closely related to them since the refuse to evolve their minds. I bet even the chimps understand evolution better than most theists.

yes. i watched a jane goodall show last night (which i had seen before) and thought about our origins. it's like being able to go back in time to see what things would have been like before we evolved into what we are now, and guess what, it's not much different!

oh dammit, i keep forgetting, i'm not atheist.

It DOES make me question the morality of keeping those creatures imprisoned like that, as bored and listless as they seem to be in their cages...
