Religion doesn't hold good connotations for me, but Godliness does.
Religion smacks of rules of man, symbolism meaning nothing, ritual with no power or life in it, a binding of the people.

God on the other hand brings to mind freedom, bubbling life, adventure, security, real power, the real deal, answering to God alone, man not mattering, Pleasing God and You are in Good shape.
