I take my engagement ring off when I get in the shower or when I'm going to the beach. I know diamonds are nearly impossible to scratch, but the metal can get damaged and the ring gets dirty so much faster if you leave it on all the time.
Thanks for asking, though. I always wondered if I'm the only one taking mine on and off so often.

For the most part, I leave my engagement ring on all the time. I only take it off if I'm using lotion or something like that. I wash my hands with it and shower with it and sleep with it. I take it to my jeweler regularly to get it cleaned and when I'm in the shower, I make sure that all the soap is rinsed away from it. It doesn't really have anything to do with wanting people to know I'm engaged, because that doesn't change when I take my ring off. I just love that ring because my fiance picked it out and did such a wonderful job choosing it. Its exactly my taste. Plus, the fit is so perfect I would be more worried about losing it if I took it off all the time than just leaving it on. We have a cat who loves to knock stuff over so I'm sure she'd find a way to knock over whatever I kept my ring in if I weren't wearing it! Its all a matter of personal choice. Some people aren't comfortable wearing jewelry all the time.

Most of the time when I'm home, my rings are off. Plus, I always remove my engagement rings before I shower, cook dinner/touch raw food, wash dishes, put hand lotion on, clean the house, swim or go to sleep.
I have a special ring dish I put my rings in, so I always know where they are. Heat from dish water or the shower can slightly soften/weaken the prongs of your ring and I would not run the risk of losing my diamond. Hand lotion, makeup and/or harsh cleansers are very bad for jewelry.
Your wedding ring is a symbol of your commitment. It is part of your wedding ceremony, when the officient says that the ring is symbolic. It is not the actual piece of jewelry, but the committment behind it that really matters. So, while I do wear my engagement rings everywhere I go outside of the house, there is no reason to leave it on 100% of the time. Just because my hand is bare does not mean I suddenly am no longer bound heart and soul to my fiance.

Mine is not a wedding ring it is more like a promise ring. I have been with my man for 6 years. I never take it off!! I wear it in the shower, to bed, always!

I leave mine on in the shower. Only time I have taken it off is, my body goes through times when I am allergic to gold, it's odd, but it causes blisters under my ring and my ears if I am wearing gold earings. But then, I just put it on my other hand as the reaction takes a few days and by the time the right hand starts the left will be healed. It's gotta be the stupidest allergy in the world!!!

I take mine off all the time. Showering, sleeping, cleaning, etc. Any housework or yardwork activities too. Is is worth damaging your very expensive ring for the sake of "not taking it off" ?? I even brought fake wedding rings on my honeymoon so I wouldn't have to worry about my ring being lost or stolen. My husband doesn't wear his at all actually. He's just not a ring person. Plus, I can't even begin to imagine all of the crud that would build up if you never took it off. They are just a symbol, and no one should place that much importance on a symbol. The marriage itself is what is important, not the ring.

I don't have my wedding ring yet (not till September!) but as for my engagement ring, no. I do not take it off unless I am cleaning or handling raw meat. That's it. I never want to take it off and I know I'm going to be the same way with my wedding ring. As long as it's sized properly, there should be nothing to worry about at all. :)

My hands tend to swell at night, so I take my rings off before I go to bed. In the morning, then, while I'm in the shower, I drop them in a small dish of jewlery cleaner (so my rings are always clean!) and I check them every day to make sure nothing's happened to the prongs or anything.
I also take my rings off before touching raw meat, putting lotion on, or doing any sort of yard work.

I don't understand your question that much unless you mean your afraid of it falling off into the drain, then I would take it off, but I might take it off to clean under the ring itself, or even clean the ring while taking a shower. Well goodluck on this one.

The only time I take off my wedding and engagement rings is if I'm making dough, or handmixing something like hamburger meat. That's it. They're pretty hardy items, and are made to be worn and loved! Have lasted 18 years!
