Stay away from processed carbs and especially from sweet stuff because it will only give you a short burst of energy before you end up crashing and feeling more tired than you did before consuming it. It looks like someone asked this question before and received some good info. Also, I've included a page on google with some really good info on what you can eat to make you sleepy and on the converse, what you can have to keep you awake. It mostly has to do with something called tryptophan. Tryptophan is an essential Amino Acid. It is a precursor for serotonin (which aids sleep and anxiety),and helps in niacin (B vitamins) production. I hear turkey has a lot of tryptophan in it. That is why it makes you feel comfy and sleepy after eating it. The link also mentions tyramine. Tyramine is an amino acid that causes the release of norepinephrine, a brain stimulant that can keep you awake. Foods that contain tyramine include bacon, aged cheese, chocolate, ham, sausages and wine.
Well, good luck and happy eating!

To keep you awake, caffeine containing foods are on top of the list. Another would be Tyramine which is an amino acid that causes the release of norepinephrine, a brain stimulant that can keep you awake. Foods containing tyramine include bacon, aged cheese, chocolate, ham, sausages, aubergines, tomatoes, red wine, peppers, smoked
meats, fish and, chocolate and red wine.

Chocolate has caffeine in it.
Eating something spicy may wake you up. It usually keeps me awake.
