Well I truly understand I have 2 boys (20 yrs and 17 yrs) and a girl (3 yrs) The girl would lose her mind if I did not let her in the bathroom with me and the boys at least have the courtesy to stand outside the door and talk LOL. The minute I go in they all desperately need me..

When my youngest daughter was little, she was not allowed to into the bathroom with me when I needed to excuse myself. She would sit outside the door and put her fingers under the door and wave at me till I came out. She would say hello mommy every few minutes and if I did not respond she would say it louder and louder. She is now 14 and sits outside the bathroom when I take a bath and talks to me. I think they do this cause they know where you are and that you can't run away.... ha ha!

I remember when my mom would say "Can I have ONE thing that is just my own?" Because I would always be in her make-up or anything else. From the child's point of view, we just want to be close to the one person who makes us feel the best and safest in the world. When kids are little, it almost reminds me of dogs in a way... it's like a pack of dogs who follow their leader no matter where he goes. In a way... :)
It sucks not to be able to have alone time though, something my mom would do for us is let us watch TV in her room while she took a relaxing bath with her music on (and door closed). We would promise to let mommy have some quiet time, because if we did, she would let us do something special and she always would tell us how happy it made her to have some "special mommy time".

Hope you take time in your life that balances out the reality of parenting and your own sanity....something just for you to be able have some fun and not exclusive to your job as a parent once a week. That could also include dates with hubby ; )
Before you know it they'll be grown so enjoy your job and provide yourself a break once in awhile.

I know exactly what you mean! I went to work the other day and forgot to close the cubicle door behind me, just out of habit of knowing my little one follows me (at home)! Had a laugh about it though! My daughter is 17 months old and insists on ripping off the tiolet paper and passing it to me. It's cute at the moment, but I can't wait for her to stop wanting to join me!!!!

I couldn't agree with you more. My son is 4 1/2 and it seems like every time I'm in the bathroom he's right behind me. I'm afraid he'll be scarred for life from seeing me naked:)

For years my kids followed me to the bathroom. Then it was the grandkids. When no ones here, I still have my dog and two cats at my feet. Yes, I did it to myself and isn't life good!!
