If youi are looking for a name in history how about Felix the Cat. He started off in the early 1900's and was very popular up until the late 1960's. He had quite the personality and was very popular by the general publie. I think you can still buy stuff on e-bay and other various websites. If you are interested just put the name in a search engine. Felix was also a black cat.

We recently had this quandary with our new gray kitten we rescued. Honestly we jut kept calling it different names until it responded to one now the poor things saddled with Stanley Archibald Kitty Kitty. Stanley or "NO! darn it get out of that" for short, lol.

We thought about all the black cliche names, but found our black kitten to be very, very adventurous. We named him Indy, since the theme fit him well. I suggest watching your new kitten, and gauging their attitude towards things and comparing it to people or things you can relate the attitude to.
