There is a saying that goes: "I would rather rule in Hell than serve in Heaven".
Basically these folks are not aware of that there is a God or are immature and rebellious.
Self will run riot and resentment motivates many people. They believe there is freedom in Hell and really it is slavery and death.
There are other things like hate of God and blaming God for what someone did through the self will God gave them. Man damages the environment and the poisons cause defects in the structure of DNA and formation of the fetus. Blame God when it is man doing it.
This really is a slavery of the mind and not the freedom of the Spirit.

I'm not sure that anyone chooses hell. It's more of a choice between choosing present over future. I've known many people who lived for the moment and did whatever it was that felt good in the present. It was these people who could not even understand why I wasn't joining in the fun. The choice had nothing to do with heaven or hell, but trying to live in the present with my eyes on all that is beyond.

Because they do not have the actual knowledge about hell. For certain people like us we read the Bible and believe what is written in it. We believe in God and fear God. We have the knowledge, we have the Holy Spirit guiding us. They refuse the Word of God, so they are made stubborn, the Lord says, "My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge", which is true people do not have the knowledge or rather they do and they refuse it. But if God were to take all the unbelieving people and take them to hell for just one minute, believe me, they would all turn away from their evil ways. I don't know whether I should say fortunately or unfortunately but God does not work that way. The reason why it is so tough here on earth is because there will be no temptations whatsoever in Heaven.
Most people want to see with their naked eyes that God exists, that hell and heaven exists.......what a waste of time cause that is not seen with the naked eye.

the way that a large amount of christians belive in heaven and hell, I'd prefer hell without a second thought.
in fact the way many belive it, any decent person, would massively prefer their hell to their heaven.
I would not want to be anywhere near an entity that would have an eternal hell as part of their system, and being near such an entity, being in the lap of luxury while most of humanity was tormented for eternity, would be massively worse punishment than the torment the others were getting.
and others, their heaven is even more abhorrent! making god out to be essentially a soul eater, brainwashing those who "get to be with him" into mindless, free-will-less obedience, such that they could not care about the rest of humanity being tormented...
evil. evil. evil!
take burning and whatnot over that any day.

My spiritual beliefs do not include hell....
But to answer your question, i think that if there were indeed a chance to make an actual choice..and somebody chose Hell, it would be because that person felt either undeserving, or that the lack of self love...perhaps even an unresolved resentment against god.....
The list could go on....I'm grateful that i do not have to make that choice!

No one will want to go to hell but they would not want to follow the right way to heaven. If anyone prefer hell to heaven it means that he/she is determine to go to hell because of his / her handy works (bad things)

It's not that they WOULD not; it's that they COULD not:
"But though He had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him.
This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke: "LORD , WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT? AND TO WHOM HAS THE ARM OF THE LORD BEEN REVEALED?"
For this reason they COULD not believe, for Isaiah said again,
"HE HAS BLINDED THEIR EYES AND HE HARDENED THEIR HEART, SO THAT THEY WOULD NOT SEE WITH THEIR EYES AND PERCEIVE WITH THEIR HEART, AND BE CONVERTED AND I HEAL THEM." - John 12:37-40.

I guess because they don't take it seriously. Many think it will be a big party, because their friends will be there.
