Because you tend to lose your sense of fear and pain. That is why alcohol is called "liquid courage".

As others have said, alcohol lowers your inhibitions. In some cases, this may make you seem more brave; other times you may feel more outgoing, funnier, more attractive, etc.
The downside of this is that while you may feel brave, your body's reaction time slows down the more you drink. It becomes harder to walk, focus your eyes, comprehend what people are saying, drive a car, etc. It's probably not a good idea to get in a fight after drinking--you may end up hurt!

It's because when you drink the booze dulls the senses and the pain. And you become stupid and are 10 feet tall and bullet proof! And you don't remember saying " NO one can harm me, I laugh in the face of danger!!" And when you wake up in the morning looking at the black eye or the bruises you have accumulated, and it hurts to move much, you think, "damn, what the hell????" And there's always someone there to tell you what a jackass you were. My advice to the drinkers of the world, chances are if you drink happy, you'll be a lovable lush, if you drink angry, you turn into one of those a**holes that make you think your invincible aka being brave. (IMO)

I'm sure there must be a scientific or biological answer to this, but I don't know it. Alcohol lowers your inhibitions making it easier to say and do things you wouldn't normally. Liquid courage. But with such power come great consequences, most of which you have to learn on your own.

Alcohol dulls your senses and reduces your inhibitions. You tend to be more aggressive and do things that your conscience would otherwise make you think twice about.

There is a fine line between "brave" and "stupid". Alcohol makes that line really, really blurry!
