Is our culture all wrong, and should we change it, bring in sharia law, make wearing veils mandatory (even for the women), burn gays, smack a few women around (they’re second-class trash, after all, women, aren’t they?), forbid depictions of historical figures (and, of course, rage, rage, rage every time one appears, threatening to behead the perpetrator). Oh, there are oodles of things we could do to bring our culture right into the seventh century.

RB, for me that would be approximately ten years too far back to live a comfortable life, 40yrs maybe, though I'd rather live in the present, it's a shame others can't seem to manage to be flexible enough to change with the times.

No. Lets just go for the Medaeval one the Christians want.

Better still, lets stick to secularism - it is responsble for virtually every good thing we have around us in the west.

Your theory doesn't makes sense. If everyone hated modern culture so much we would have no Muslims in the west. Religion isn't a trend, It's not something made for a certain century. Religion can be followed in accumulation to any time period. Every religion, race of people desire something. Would you remove the border between Mexico and the US in order to please the Mexican folk (They deserve to be here as much as anyone else). It's not about appeasement. And our Sharia law wouldn't apply to everyone since everyone is not Muslim and it wouldn't make sense to have a non-believer wearing a veil. Guess why.. Because faith comes from the heart. There is no compulsion in religion. And did you not notice that not ALL Muslims are extremists. Normal everyday Muslims (1.6) million of them, would like to be let alone, and let us do what we will. Not everyone wears the veil or follows Islamic law to the tee either. BUT there is one thing you CAN do. That's be a little more open minded.

We don't even have a culture! A culture is the expression of a people with a common identity and ethos. What we have in America today is a kind of controlled anarchy. A lot of the 7th century was about war, trial by ordeal, might being right. We don't want that now because we can't handle or even relate to that mentality. Why offend other people with our ethics and expectations, when we can accept, change, and kiss their @sses?

I don't know what the answer is. I do know it is a popular
trend to bash the Christian's till the hart is content. God
forbid one of us should speak up against the put downs.
While the newcomers dream of the green sofas, virgins
and fair young boys do do there biding. What's up with
that? They should mind there own business and don't get
into mine. I have had far too many prayers answered for all of
them combined to change my faith. My God dose not count
me among the infidels. It's not mans place to make that call.
Unless he is setting himself up as God. God and God alone
sits on the Judgment Thrown.

"I have always held the religion of Muhammad in high estimation because of its wonderful vitality. It is the only religion which appears to me to possess that assimilating capacity to the changing phase of existence which can make itself appeal to every age. I have studied him - the wonderful man and in my opinion for from being an anti-Christ, he must be called the Saviour of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it the much needed peace and happiness: I have prophesied about the faith of Muhammad that it would be acceptable to the Europe of tomorrow as it is beginning to be acceptable to the Europe of today." --George Barnard Shaw, THE GENUINE ISLAM, Vol. 1, No. 81936.
