I want to install them above the window frame/casing (trim). Has anyone done it before?
I saw it somewhere online, but can't remember where.
I like woven shades but want to install them closer to the ceiling to give a dramatic effect. Yet, I want privacy for the room as well. Can it be done?
I asked a similar question but got some weird answers that didn't resolve the question.

What you want to consider is the effect you're looking for. Shades are not nearly as important visually as curtains, so the impact on the room is less dramatic when you use them per manufacturers specifications. ANYTHING you do with them beyond the norm will have a huge effect on your space though, because they rarely deviate from standard use.

If your shades fit inside the window frame, then any height is fine. If they fit outside the shade, they have more impact on the rooms visual and should be treated like curtains.

Generally speaking, you want them high enough to block the view from the outside looking in at a height of about 6' at a bare minimum, OR to block the view from neighboring buildings.

The biggest issue here is the visual. If you attach the shades on the wall, the shade will hang out over the window trim when down since the trim sets out a bit. It just won't look right. Install the shades the right way and use draperies to get drama instead.

It may differ depending on the brand you buy. It should be able to be done. Mine had two ends that the blinds fit into. I had to mount the ends onto the wall. Then the top portion of the blinds slide into the ends. There's a little door that folds down and snaps in place, making sure that the top portion of the blinds don't slide out.

How you mount the ends into the wall depends if you are mounting into a stud or drywall. If you are mounting into drywall, just use some drywall mounts. If you are mounting into the stud just use a wood screw.
