I'm sure you can find a few home security laws that you consider to be a pain in the @ss. Wait a minute, you already spit on those. How about the drug laws, or you can make home invasions legal. I know, you can start a guns for toys exchange program.

It is very difficult for any of us to give an intelligent answer to a rhetorical question.

I'm not American, and I do not criticize other people's countries. Having said that, it seems to me that there must be a benefit to society for certain laws to be enforced. Your government has decided that the cost (both human and financial) of enforcing immigration laws does not justify the benefit that will arise from the enforcement.

Personally, I think they could be right. Illegals come to the USA to do work that needs to be done, work that benefits your society, work that not enough legal Americans can be found to do. It seems to me that, provided the illegals live clean and decent, and obey the law, what harm is there to having them in the US? Don't get me wrong, any illegals breaking the law should be severely punished before being deported. "Legal" lawbreakers should be punished too, but that doesn't seem to happen either.

I know that Canada (where I'm from) has the same problem of recruiting farm workers. We bring them in from Mexico under restricted work visas, but our laws about employment standards are a bit stricter than the corresponding American laws. Our cost of living is higher because of our more "socialist" (for lack of a better word) laws, and I am sure that there are many Canadians who would trade protection of vulnerable workers for lower prices. I'm not one who thinks that way, but in any case I do not expect Prime Minister Stephen Harper to phone me to ask for my opinion any time soon.

By the way, I doubt very much if any illegals are your amigos, since you seem to have a resentful attitude towards them.

It seems we the people are no longer bound by any law that is broke by many people. That seems to be the criteria these days. If enough people break a law, it is no longer enforced. With a serious exception for smoking pot.
