And if you are "saved" what are you saved from?

This question ultimately begs the final question - whose definition is right?

Atheists, anti-Christs and other detractors need not reply. You have, by your spiritual stance, demonstrated that you do not believe in God, the Bible and maybe even salvation. So why bother answering? The Christians and Jews who read your insolence would likely still pray for you, and most of you are repulsed by the thought of that, so why put yourself through any more agony than your spiritually starved lives are already suffering?

Daffy Duckism is the lowest common denominator of salvation when it comes to the faiths and beliefs of others.

It can save you from the cares and heart-rending conflicts of worrying about the beliefs of others.

Try this mantra:

"I'm just like Daffy Duck!
"I'm web-footed and don't give a flying somethingorother"

A web footed attititude about the beliefs of others will save you from the hell of putting your nose into places where it is not your concern.

The Bible says the wages of sin is death and the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23. A person who is saved is saved from sin and the consequence of sin which is death. The person who is saved is given the free gift of eternal life in Jesus instead of death caused by sin.
I would say God's definition is right.

God bless.

Faith justifies initially, but works perfect and complete our salvation. If all it takes to be saved is "to confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead" (Romans 10,9) then why must I change? Oh sure, I should change my sinful ways. I should try to please God. But if I don't does it really matter? My salvation is assured?

Salvation is a process of perseverance through faith, hope and love. Nowhere in Scripture does it say that one is justified or saved by "faith alone." On the contrary, man is not justified by faith alone. A person is justified by faith and works acting together, which comes solely from God's divine grace. Faith alone never obtains the grace of justification. Also, the word "justified" is the same word Paul uses for justification in Romans 4,3 in regard to Abraham (so Protestants cannot argue James is not referring to "justification" in James 2,24 unless they argue Paul wasn't either in Romans 4,3).

We follow Christ because we believe He left Heaven temporarily for the sole purpose of dying as a sacrifice for the sins that we have committed.
So to answer your question, for our sins and until Christ die for us, we were all detined to spend eternity apart from God in hell. Christ's sacrifice saves us from this terrible place and allows us passage into Heaven if we follow Him.

Sorry- you are confusing Christianity and Judaism. There is no need to be "saved" in Judaism. Every one is born innocent and devoid of sin- then you live your life as best you can. No need to be saved from anything (including hell- since we don;t believe in hell!)

For a person to be saved, he or she should confess with their mouth and believe in their heart that Jesus died on the cross for their sins and then ask forgiveness for their sins. Then they have to confess saying that they give their heart to Jesus and invite him to come and live in their heart.
