Sorry to hear about your back problems, I also have sciatica
problems. Other than surgury you are doing all that you can do. If you continue doing your exercises and stretches the discs that are herninated should slide back into place, if in fact you have herniated dics. I have found that streching the tendons daily helps some. I have also put arch supports in my shoes that helps me with lower backpain and knee pain greatly. Stay active, plz remember that pain medication is addicting, so use with caution.
You dont say how long you have had sciatica and which side.
I hope this tidbit helps, good luck and speedy recovery.

Hey there,
It is a fact that no one condition reflects sciatica and it would be prudent to refer to it as a generic medical term encompassing lots of symptoms that taken together describe a lower back pain that a patient suffers from. When someone complains of severe back pain that passes down to legs through his buttocks, even down to his feet and toes, doctors suspect him to be suffering from sciatica. Often sciatica presents itself as numbness or a tingling sensation that may not be anything like the severe pain commonly associated with sciatica. This tingling or numbness may be felt by the person when he engages in some activities.

I am a chiropractor. I regularly walk and do yoga style exercises, as well as traditional back exercises.

I feel that this general program is excellent. Many studies have pointed to the fact that generally being active is more beneficial than specific exercises, thus the walking recommendation.

Also, it is important to relearn walking, as shoes have actually caused our species to lose the natural walking form.

Massage and accupuncture are worth checking out. Both modalities can greatly ease your discomfort. Also, lipoic acid tablets are used to promote nerve health. If you spend a lot of time in a particular chair, you may need to add a cushion or better yet, treat yourself to something new. Don't neglect to consider your car seat, it is broken in or lopsided? These things can really add to the pain equation. Best of luck and good health to you.
