And if so where can I find out about them? Also is there a list of registered sex offenders in Australia, and is it a requirement that they be registered?

To be clearer I am an Australian. I've heard a man in my community was convicted of molesting 7 girls (now women) and he got... wait for it... 1 year in jail, with parole he'll be out in 3 months. I want to check the facts on this.

Criminal records are public documents that are kept in the court where the case was tried. Thus, you can request the clerk of court to furnish you information of what you want to know.

Aussie here, I think the only way to find out is to go through Freedom of Information, in the particular state that the person was convicted in. I believe there is a list of registered sex offenders also, but don't know too much about it. Hope this helps you.

Do you plan to go there and commit a crime? If he is in Australia, let him stay. For Pete's sake do not bring him back!
