the easiest way is to try on one of her rings. See what finger of yours it fits or where it comes to on your finger. You could even make it as a sort of joke, so she doesn't catch on what you are at, or do it secretly when shes not there.
that way you can try the ring on yourself and see whats the best match .

Working Out Ring Size

This is the real reason we get them a promise ring first.

You go out and pick out a simple promise ring. You have to give your best guess at her size, but be sure that it is too big. She can put it on but will still have to get it re-sized.

When she gets it, she'll get all bubbly and happy because you gave her a ring. Be sure that she knows that it is 'only' a promise ring. Apologize for getting it too big, and offer to take her to the jeweler so they can re-size it. It's 'only' a promise ring, so she won't be as upset about that as she would about, say, an engagement ring.

Take her in to the jewelry store and have her give the ring to an employee to have them re-size it (this usually means it's gone for a week or so). They will size her finger right there, so just pay attention to whatever they say is the correct size. While they're getting her measurement, start looking around at other things. She'll be curious and start looking too. Steer toward the engagement and wedding rings, and see which ones she spends the most time looking at. Now you know her ring size AND her taste in engagement rings.

You offfer to pick up the ring for her when it's done being re-sized. When you do, share information with the jeweler, and make sure that you remember the size right.

Sure she gets an extra ring out of the deal, but what's that between people who love each other? Besides, it's just one more sweet thing you did that she can brag about to her friends.

I probably would NOT get the same size as a ring she wears on a different finger. One hand is bigger than the other, and most of fingers do not match in size. I would tell the jeweler which finger she wears it on, and then they should prob be able to figure it out from there.
I would definitly get a strip of paper or a string and wrap it around her finger and make a mark.
If your girlfriend is like most of us, she already knows her ring size and has probably told someone about it.
Good luck! congrats!

If you are going to get her size from an existing ring that she wears make sure that it is from the third finger on the left hand.

The best way is to measure her finger with a piece of string while she is asleep.

if you are going to the bother of surprising her with a ring you might as well get the size right because she will be so excited she will not want to bring the ring back to the shop to get it re-sized. She will want to wear it and wear it.

Good Luck!!!

The only way is to take a measurement from another of her rings when shes not around..My daughter got engaged last Christmas and she had no idea that her fiancee was going to buy her a ring .I asked him how he done it ,And he said when she was sleeping he took the size then ,as she leaves her rings on the bedside table..Unfortunately three months after she lost her ring while decorating the house .So NOW she is waiting for a new one .

If she wears rings now, just grab one off her and try it on your own fingers, then you'll know approximately how big to get the ring. Always go for a size larger rather than a size smaller as it's easier to get the ring resized smaller if need be. Good luck!

Take a glove that she wears. Or just buy the ring (most rings come in a size 7) and if it's too big/small get it resized. Good luck.
