Disown them. My best friends are black and they are the best friends EVER! I think it's stereotypical but white people have committed as much crime as black or coloured people and people like that deserve to be shot! I f they really loved you and your daughter then they would accept it like you have. I say ignore them and good on you. You are inspirational in a world like this. Thankyou! xxx

Sorry but I would be shocked if my daughter come home with a black man at first, this is more because the way I have been raised. I think with the multi race country we are now I would get use to it and the family will see if this chap makes her happy then the family will be happy. Of course there is there is a divide within the country about mix race, this is just because it is still something different for the older generation.

I'm sure it will sort it self out in the end.

If your daughter is an intelligent mature young woman then she is capable of deciding who makes her happy. Given time the family may come around when they see he is a decent human being who is making a member of their family happy.

It's very sad that people still bear these prejudices against other races. I have always been of the mind if we were all born blind we wouldn't know what colour skin another person had.

The happiness and feelings of your daughter ought to come before any member of the family who is unable to rid themselves of negative thoughts because of the colour of a person's skin. If all white people were good, kind, thoughtful, gentle people who never ever harmed another human being, and all black people were evil, cruel, thoughtless brutal people who went around committing vile crimes then yes they would be right to feel fear for her well being. This isn't that though is it, it's blatant racism reading between the lines of your question.

Be there for your daughter no matter what Colour, Race or Creed her friends are and she will share what is happening in her life with you.

No offence but thats very racist...yes some black ppl cause bad repsfor others but u cant hold a grudge against some1 because of there colour. Try and explain that to ur family and tell them there is nothing u can do as shes happy and he hasnt hurt her in anyway. If ur all for ur daughter and u were close to ur family, stick up 4 ur daughter and hopefuly they will admire u 4 it and get over it.

I think you dealing with it already, you are standing by and supporting your daughter!
You want her to be happy and there is no crime in that, sorry that your family are being so near sighted.
These same people would complain if she was dating someone from her own race and he was beating her up and treating her like rubbish!! Because that is possible just as it is possible that she could be very happy with a black man..
Well done MOM!

Well you are her mother and if anyone knows whats best for your daughter then its you. if you are ok with her dating this man, then no one elses opinion should matter. the colour of someones skin or where in the world they come from, does not change whether they are a nice person or not. If this man is nice to your daughter and treats her with respect, then noone should have a problem as long as she is happy.

You are right! You have to side with your daughter here! I dont see what the problem is! Your family must be racist if it is causing a problem! This isnt a very good thing to be!
Its their problem! Try and explain, but in my experience trying to talk to a racist is like talking to a brick wall! Its very hard to change their views!
You shouldnt have to tell your daughter you are ok with it! Its two people failling in love! What in Gods name is there to argue!
You should know deep down how you should be dealing with this! Stick by your daughter, forget your racist family!

No.

It is NOT racist to have aesthetic preference regarding races.

Just think. What if she has black children, eh?
Those children will kinda feel jealous of their white cousins.

And it's not bad for families to be choosy with race. Some Arab families do it. So do some Italians.

Only race-sensitive double-standard Americans think it is racist if a family oposes race mixing.

i admire you for allowing your daughter. my sister dated a "black" guy for 4 years, and my mum was against it, when they got married she was devastated. Now she loves him , and their kids dearly, that she even asked them to move in with her, so she can be with them more.

Life is tough, its made tough so God can see how strong we are. I think, well you sound like a strong woman, and i hope you will stick by your daughter in this. Okay. Black guy is better then white - druggy - alcoholic one. Okay?

Besides, i dont see color no more - and neither should you. So as for your family, explain to them that their opinion is highly regarded, but you would appreciate it if they would keep this one to themselves ,as your daughters happiness is your number one priority.

We're all the same on the inside. Okay.

good luck

you sound like a great mum. (just like mine for coming around to her senses)

I truly cant believe that there are still racist people out there. They disgust me. You'd think the human race could have evolved past this by now.
The family are in the wrong definitely. If it comes to it fall out with them. There is no way to justify their behaviour.
