Because that is what my Mom taught me, & because she believed in the idea so firmly. I hate to think that Mom was wrong. BUT

Buddha meditated and realized hat there is no God controlling everything in the universe. Rather he broke the sound barrier of spirituality and reached into divinity where everything was possible and declared that He (buddha) is God. And he opened a way for all to realize it by his meditation.
No other person I know has claimed that he is God. Whether it is Jesus or Mohammed. They were only messengers.

I want a god to exist because that way there would be more to all this. It would be great to travel into other dimensions and explore weird things. If this is all there is, well that's fine but I have a huge imagination and something tells me (gnosis= intuition) that there's much, much more out there. You know that film 2001: A Space Odyssey ? That's what I love.

At the very core of our human nature, we demand that our lives mean something. We cannot bear to not have a reason for living. God is necessary in order for our lives to have real purpose and real meaning.

“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell

We can invent some reason for living but we know that we invented it only so we wouldn't go insane or commit suicide.

I have quite a few gods, and they are all important to me. I'll hang on to them for a little while longer if you don't mind. We all need gods (people). :)

It is a fact that God does exist. If not, then there is no point in living. How then do you think the world came about? Just by a bang and there we are?
