Prices at Petco and PetSmart are roughly the same in both places.

The most practical to buy your dog crate is in California since the point of origin of your dog will be in California. Besides if your going to buy it from Colorado, you will bringing it along with you without the dog yet. The time you will spent for looking in buying crate in Colorado could already be made in California. Moreover, you could well size up your dog suitable to the crate your going to buy in California. Definitely it is cheaper in California because not only you save time but that decision you will make is very practical and wise. Good luck!

crating your pet is a good idea for hundreds of reasons, since cal is so big i would think prices would be higher there so by one before you go petsmart has them on sale right now. if you need any help crate training let me know and ill give you some tips. i usually train in about 3 days. best thing is to make sure the crate has a divider so there isnt room to poop in the corner until its house trained. a bean bag pillow warmed in the microwave/2 liter filled with warm water helps to keep them warm and a ticking clock to make then not feel alone. the crate is thier home and you should make sure they understand that, feed inside the crate also. only let him/her out when you can watch it attentively. you will thank yourself later!!!

You might check on e-bay. I have never used it though. Do you have a friend or neighbor that might let you borrow a crate for this trip? Ask around - you never know.
I bought 2 large dog crates at yard sales for about $20.00. These crates are big enough to hold my 90 lb. German Shepherd comfortably.

I don't know. Check the yellow pages. But be sure to have the crate before you get the dog(in case of any complications). Check petco/petsmart and I would also check craigslist to find a used, but still in good condition crate.
Good luck with your new dog!

Are you looking for an airline crate or a wire crate? And are you flying or driving? Your question is rather vague. http://www.drsfostersmith.com had good prices for both. Another option and MUCH cheaper - would be to check your local http://www.craigslist.com and find a used one.
