Heat and light are the enemy. If it has been exposed to significant amounts of either you might want to throw it out.

Hi Guru,
as long as u never opened the bottle up its fine, because red wine or any wine for the matter or fact is believed to get better as it ages,in flavour, colour, and smell, just keep the bottle in a cool and dry place, and then you can pop open the bottle whenever you feel like,so cheers mate and don't you worry!!!!!

You can always drink it but if it has been exposed to direct sunlight it will taste vile. Alcohol always gets stronger. And if red wine is stored properly then a bottle that is 50 years old can taste better than a brand new one.

Outside? Where outside? How many years? What kind of red wine?

Chances are it has probably vinegarized. But the only way to know is to pop the cork and test it out. Be careful though, it could be really gross!

WIne is only 7% alcohol and the remaining sugars would have broken down and became vinegar.
If you had kept it in the cellar with a constant cold environment , it might still be drinkable.

wine has to be stored properly (temperature controlled environment, horizontally - so the cork doesn't dry out, etc.), keeping it outside really doesn't qualify as "proper storage", so yes, it is most likely bad and unfit for consumption. open it up, and judge for yourself.

I'm not sure but I think that if you haven't opened the bottle it will be better than before but if you did open it then it has definitely gone bad
