After obtaining the consent, the nurse coordinator along with the medical coordinator re-evaluates he donors file organs are offered and full information is given to the transplant centers. It is evaluated by them and gives their acceptance or rejection of the offer. Sometimes, transplant centers are requesting for some investigations and updates which will be followed up by the nurse coordinator. Then the nurse coordinators along with the medical staff follows the process of transplant, takes the recipient's information from transplant coordinators of certain transplant centers and enters the data on the record (or computer system). That would be his/her role on the donor organ aspect.

On the other hand, on the side of organ recepient he/she would see to it that the patient requirements are met. He/She would coordinate and manage all aspects of medical care for patients who have had solid organ transplantation. This includes: monitoring lab data and response to medications; obtaining insurance authorization for needed patient therapies; patient and family education; data collection and maintenance of transplant database; following established protocols; and maintaining open communication with the various health care professionals involved with the transplantation process.

In addition, the nurse transplant coordinator maintains calmness in a crisis situation and directs staff members appropriately.
