For the last 6 months or so my pug has become obsessed with drinking water, as soon as he wakes up, or just through out the day he goes and drinks a lot of water and i have fill his bowl up a couple of times before he is satisfied, then he pees 5 or six times within an hour or so. his pee is always clear and clean, unlike my other dog's pee who is very dark yellow because he doesn't drink that much water, could there be something wrong with my pug?

also a few months ago i had him checked out because he was throwing up and drinking more than usual and the vet said he had elevated liver values and that he needed to be flushed out with lots of fluids an IV or a subcutaneous injection, so he got flushed out and he stopped vomiting and seemed better, could he possibly trying to still cleanse his own system?

I would deffinately consult your vet on this one since he has a history of liver issues.

But did the vet test his blood or just diagnose the liver issues based on the vomiting water? If my boxer drinks too fast he'll burp up water. I found that putting a few ice cubes in his water slows him down a bit b/c he isn't able to gulp as fast. Plus he has fun chasing the cubes :)

First ask yourself did your Pug always drink lots of water? When did he start drinking excess water? With the weather change? A diet change? Since he was flushed out by the vet? I would put all of that into perspective and phone your vet about your findings.
Since your Pug had elevated liver enzymes and needed to be flushed out. I would be concerned for his health.
After you talk with your vet I bet your vet opts to run some more tests on him. I would agree with some extra tests, especially if it has been a month or two since your Pug last visited the vet.
What are you feeding him? Does he eat the same food as the other dog? Hows is his weight? Did he lose weight, gain any? Is his hair coat dull, shiny? Is he shedding more than usual? How do his eyes look, are they bright and full of life? Is his behavior totally normal? Are his gums still a bright pink?
These are all things that you should take daily notice of.
I have to say that I personally think if the water drinking is not normal behavior for your dog than their is something wrong.
I would definitely have him seen by a vet again or at least call your vet to play it safe.

Hi there, I have a pug too, she is about 16 weeks old now and she is obsessed with water. So much that i have to close the bathroom door, or she'll be in there drinking from the shower!! We had her outside and she started drink from our other dogs drink bucket, she didn't stop! Her belly was the side of a house. We are also worried and maybe think diabetes. Shes off to the vet asap. Cheers will let you know how she goes.

Your pug is drinking lots of water because of the elevated liver enzymes. This is a symptom of high liver enzymes. It's likely your pug has a liver shunt and only surgery can correct the problem. Your vet needs to do a Bile Acids test both pre- and post-meal. Plan on leaving the dog in the morning and picking it up in the afternoon as this is an all-day test.

Have you changed his food since he started drinking so much? Maybe the food he's eating dries out his mouth, and he feels the need to drink more. I know my grandma's chihuahua drinks a lot of water in the middle of the night and when he wakes up, so his mouth might just get dry. Plus they say drinking a lot of water is good, but since it's been going on for a while, you might wanna check with your vet. I've read somewhere that this is a sign to a certain illness...I forgot what it was, though.

First off, how old is your pug? The older a dog gets, the more water he drinks, and yes, it's usually the kidneys. Is he peeing in the house or leaking when he gets up to walk from laying down? All signs of kidneys. Our dog was placed on Proin for this and has slowed down on the drinking and stopped leaking when she stands up. Also, did they check for diabetes?

First thing you have to consider is perhaps doggie diabieties, you may want to get him checked out for this. If that is not the issue, how hot is his atmosphere, if the dog is overheated, they will dehydrate faster. Pugs tend to have breathing problems from the get go. If overheated, this will make the condition worse, which will cause him to drink water thinking this is going to help. You must be very careful with small breeds and heat, if they get to overheated, brain damage can occur within minutes. Have the little one checked out, do testing, and your vet will be able to advise you further depending on the results. If he checks out ok, he just loves the taste of water, just like humans who love it also.

I am not certain if pugs can get diabetes but this is one symptom in feline diabetes. Did they screen your dog for any conditions while he was at the vet?

My pug drinks 1-1.5 bowl (or 2-2.5 cups of water daily).

No. Rubio honestly could not have picked a more awkward moment to drink water. Did he think there was going to be a commercial break or something? On top of that, he made a horribly partisan response, not even a worthy response for the presidents State of the Union address.

If he had any problem in his liver and he is drinking that much I would take him to the vet and have him checked out again he could have more wrong with his liver or something else.
