The Pearl Izumi shoes are not that bad!

From my perspective the best cycling shoes are made by Sidi! Check them out.

But the most important thing is that you should feel comfortable with the shoes whether they are from Pearl Izumi, Sidi or another brand. You have to test them and you should take the shoes with which you are feel comfortable.

You're looking for the brand that fits your feet the best. Pearl Izumi shoes are seamless and very well ventilated, though not ultra stiff. Their sizing runs on the wide end, with lots of toe room.

The best way to choose a pair of shoes for cycling is to see how they fit and equally as important how they allow you to walk. Having worn out 20 pair of cycling shoes in the last 25 years, what I appreciate most about my regular riding shoes (I commute daily) is that I can walk normally in them. Mountain bike shoes provide me with the best fit and performance even though I don't ride a mountain bike very often.

Shoes are the hardest thing to buy. It's not about which brand is best, but about which fits you best. Finding a fit is so important, that shoes are the one item of clothing that pro riders always take in carry-on luggage.

That being said, in terms of features, quality, and techie appeal, look at Sidi, DMT, and Carnac.

i've been using my pearl izumi shoes for 6 months and i love them. mine have the hard sole with the hard rubber grips. that's the only kind of shoe i will wear, because i like to be able to walk comfortably in them.

I have the newest vegabond shoes and I love them. They are well ventilated, don't pinch in the wrong places, and look great. They have the option for nearly any cleat and a little bit of reflective running on the outersole. I am very satisfied with my shoes.

my favorite road cycling shoes are Shimano and Sidi, they both have plenty of different styles in many price ranges to suit you
for MTB, I prefer Specialized

from my point of view, every type of shoe works great, but try to find the ones that have big gaps at the bottom, and change the pedals on ur bike into bmx pedals, it gives more resistence
