We have an inground pool and my dog loves to swim .. he is a little dog, about 10lbs or so.. he throws his ball in the pool and jumps in to get it all the time. I supervise him, but is the chlorine bad for their skin? It doesnt really seem to be affecting him yet..

swimming is great exercize. Do not let him drink the water. Rinse his coat out well after he swims to help prevent dry skin.. you may want to use a conditioner too. Always supervise to prevent drowning. You may want to invest in a pet ramp for your pool, just in case he decides to go swimming when you arent around.. he can climb out of the pool then.
also, make sure those ears stay dry! Water in the ears can cause infections! You may want to invest in some kind of ear powder to help dry out his ears after a swimming session.

Sounds like fun to me. Wish I could be doing the same. Glad to hear you are supervising him.
Chlorine may dry out his skin. May be a bath a couple times a week to get oils back into fur and skin. Not sure about the eyes.
Not really sure about any of this. However, I don't see any harm being done and he's getting plenty of exercise

It CAN (doesn't mean will) dry out his skin. Both of my Jack Russell Terriers swim in my pool everyday with me and they are just fine. Plus, it's wonderful exercise for your pup.
My oldest is 5 and she's been doing it since she was a puppy. She's never had to go to the vet because of the chemicals.....

I don't think its bad for him to be swimming every day but the chlorine could affect his skin and he could get very stinky in the water every day. Just keep an eye on his skin, if its irritated then I'd probably see a vet.

Any dog that is exposed to chorine will affect the skin. It will dry out the skin, and can cause alot of damage to the eyes. If you have a "swimmer", take him/her to a lake, river, anything is better than a pool with additives. You will be facing large vet bills if you let it continue this behavior.

Not at all. My Yellow Lab practically lives in our pool. Its great exercise and is harmless. The only downside may be that he will have an itchy coat, which you can fix by giving him more frequent baths.

no its good for him just don't let him drink the water. water him before and after. but the water really should not hurt him. i swim my dogs as part of their work out.

As long as he can climb out by himself let him enjoy it.
Their skin is more sensitive than ours, but not by that much, and more to sunlight than chemicals.

I take my dog to a lake every day it seems like it would be better to not expose them to chemicals.
