this is a really badly formed question. whatever species it was, it was not a modern species, probably it's been extinct many millions of years, and is probably an unknown species. evolution of sex may have happened more than once. and it almost certainly happened gradually: sexual intercourse as in mammals involves many different cellular processes.
since this is R & S, you probably expect that the inability to answer this question suggests an alternative answer. really it should suggest several alternative *questions*.
