My favorite saint is St John Marie Vianey of Ars.
...he is my favorite saint..for several reasons...
... he was below average in studies and was about to be thrown out of the seminary. But the bishop had pity on him...got him ordained and put him in a very backward and small parish...with plenty or alchoholics and immoral people dwelling there.
Since he was not talented in other ministries ...he just kept on praying for his parishners all night...for their conversion. The only food he had was roasted potatoes and water.
Soon his parishners were converted. He received the special gift of councelling during confessions. When anyone came for confession to him....he could exactly tell the person his\her sins...and help the person make a good confession. He become famous ...and people from all over flocked to his parish just for confessions.Even his bishop who once, wanted to throw him out of the seminary stood in long queue for confession.
John Marie was just a simple soul..he didnt do great things...but his life conveys a message for all of us that we dont require extra-ordinary talents and charisms to be a saint.A heart filled with prayers for others is enough.
4th August is his feast day.He is also the patron saint of all pastors.Do make it a point to wish your parish priest.

There are many saints. I'm not actually sure of the exact number. My favourite saint is Saint Rafqa (Rebekah). She is a Lebanese saint, is my namesake and she isn't very well-known over in Oz where I'm from or anywhere in the Western World really so I love her :)

My favorite is Saint Peter who messed up totally, was completely forgiven, and went on to lead the Church.
There are billions of saints in heaven.
Thousands of saints have been canonized by the Catholic Church. Here are a few lists:

My favorite is Saint Patrick because I'm Irish and he brought Catholicism to my pagan ancestors, establishing the Catholic Church all throughout Ireland.

I love praying to many saints, but the one I turn to when I'm in deep trouble is St.Joseph. He has helped me in many a sticky situation. He is a tender-hearted father who cannot turn away the needy. He is considered the most powerful of all saints. Some of his titles are 'Terror of demons', ' Solace of the afflicted'.
Another powerful saint is St. Philomena, teenage saint and martyr.

Saint Hatred, the not-so-happy saint.
Why? Well, you always know what to expect from him.
