I have a friend who told me earlier, that it says in the Bible that a plague is going to take over the world, and she says she knows that plague is Technology.
Everything is now running on all technology now days, and in about 10 years, it is going to land up that everyone is going to run out of money of the famous computers. Everything is now running by computers, and later everyone is going to have to have a computer. Everything is going to be running by the famous computers, like there is now:
Electronic Billboards
Electronic Doors
Cars and Trucks are now operated by computers
TVs, VCRs, DVD Players/Recorders are running by computers.
Public libraries are going to be out of business, because of the famous computers.
In my school days, students we used to "READ FROM THE LIBRARY"
If we keep having technology taking over this country, we are going to run out of money where we cannot buy gas. It's like the internet and we know more than God.
What is this world coming to?

This almost isn't worth my time, but that's all right...
1.) Anyone can twist the words of the Bible around to fit what they desire
2.) Consolidation of knowledge and power is not always bad; your library example fails because that was itself a consolidation of knowledge, and also because it is some strange, illegitimate form of argument from tradition, which is meaningless
3.) Do you people really think that computers are going to take over, put everyone out of jobs, and then lead to the end of humanity? That's absurd! Humans aren't going to let their own inventions ruin them. It is IDIOTIC to suppose that we will allow our entire civilization to collapse. It's not so simple. If money starts to run out, the government and the scientists run out, too, so they can't invent more, let alone maintain what we already have. We're not going to sit idly by as we spiral towards the end.
I just cannot stand this thinking. Even if it gets so bad that half the nation is out of work, we'll have revolution of some kind. That's how things change.
Or doesn't anyone know history?

First, if all the computers in the entire world failed irretrievably today, most of the world's population would be unaffected.
Most of the *rest* of the world's population would be affected but unharmed.
Finally would be those few who happened to be in an airplane or some other computer-controlled contraption at the moment of computer loss. Those few would die. There might be a few thousand, but compared to 6 billion on earth, it's just a few.
Nearly everything necessary to life that today is done *with the help* of computers was previously done *without* computers. (I mean "way back" in the 1960s and earlier) Oil was refined, electricity was generated, food was grown, jets and rockets and cars were built, banks made loans, credit card companies authorized transactions and received payments.
etc
etc
It *all* worked before. What would we be out? Robotic manufacturing (people would have to do it again - more jobs). Internet (people would have to use snail mail - more postmen). Electronic fuel injection (we'd have to go back to carburetors). UPC (we'd have to go back to price tags).
If this is the horrible "tribulation" that precedes the end of the world, I'm kind of looking forward to it. Brings back fond memories. You know, simpler time, blah blah blah

Coming to a world where there is no more jobs, because the computers will run everything. Then like you said computers will take over, no one will be working so the government will run out of money, no one will be able to buy food, gas health care, nothing.
We will go back to the old days because noone will buy anything, we will have to grow our own food, kill our own meat, and have the old west days because there would be no law.
In other words it will be like the old west all over again, and the world will start all over again.
Maybe this time we can run it the right way!!!!!
That is if the world can handle all the polution!!

today's newspaper:
implant the size of 2 grains of rice now available for implant into the arm of those who need special security. It may be used in the future to keep up with criminals and pedophiles. Also to keep a person's health records on the tiny insert which will be read by computer. We could soon buy from a store by waving our arm over the sensor.

The plague took over the world before humankind could write: Superstition. Over the centuries it has become refined by some into a dark art called religion and religion has become the anti-science.
What about stem cell research? We may be able to cure the diseases God has created, thus, defeating God's plan for human suffering.

No, we wouldn't challenge God, because if that's how things go then we /are/ God. God creates the universe, sets things up for humans to evolve, humans advance until they can dyson sphere the whole dang galaxy, mind-meld, become the Uberbrain. Uberbrain learns everything, learns how to manipulate events before it came into existence. Realizes it must ensure its own existence retroactively. Uberbrain creates the universe, sets things up for humans to evolve, humans advance until they can dyson sphere the whole dang galaxy, mind-meld, become the Uberbrain. tl;dr shiiiiiiiiiiiit mang you blew my mind

Technology is the footprints of consciousness. Technology is neither good nor evil. It is how it is used. Look at Nuclear technology. In one hand it makes power, in another a bomb.

No offense to you or your friend, but anyone can twist the Bible however they want to especially with prophecy. I do not know about this passage in particular, but it may or may not have already come true.
