Well, maybe you refer to the Patriotic Chinese Church
The Patriotic Chinese Church is a plan of the Chinese Government in order to control Catholic Church to do their biding inside their country. They fear that Catholics foster revolution inside their Communist Country. As Communists they are also Atheists, so Patriotric Church is obviously a misnomer.
Chinese Authorities even kill some Catholics either bishops, priests or simply men or women in order to protect their revolution.
