I think you'd be shocked what type of people become police officers, counselors, and other public/community figures. It's in my experience that the counselors aren't always nice, compassionate people, and the police officers aren't always law abiding citizens.

The type of personality that a police officer has can vary. My very best friend is a Lt now and he is very intelligent, has a respect and an appreciation for the law, he is a very talented musician and plays for his church (imagine that!), believes strongly in God, was an only child., very communicative and 'deep' (he loves involved conversations about anything), he enjoys talking to people and helping people. He knows a lot about many subjects. He does not drink much, To my knowledge has never been drunk. BUT, if I had to swing the other direction with some things I think - he "was" very irresponsible about his sexual life. He has three children - by three different women and never married any of them. His first son should be about 30, His second son is in college and is about 23. His last son should be about 7 or 8. Why he has never married - I don't know - there are some of us who feels he might have been a 'down low' type of guy. He is also like the 'metro-man' - extra clean, dresses extremely well, has all the right colognes, loves to shop for things like stationary, bed linens - stuff that women would love. (I think that is why we are so close). So, you see the type of people who become police officers can vary.

Cops are people just like everyone else and normally have a back round like any law abiding decent kid.
From my perspective I can say that I was like any other kid in high school. I excelled in sports, had average grades and just fit in.
One thing I can say that was different. I stayed away from bad influences or bad groups/gangs. When a group was doing drugs, shoplifting, stealing cars...I simply said I got better things to do and was independent and would not back down to temptation. I always tried to defend the younger kids and was more of a person that always tried to help people. I am just talking from my perspective of how I was but I know guys that are cops now that were a bit wild in HS and also honor students so it is hard to say.
The users saying they were pushed around and had negative comments is something I have never, ever seen in a fellow officer but just the opposite. These guys are probably people who have been arrested, get bullied or had bad experiences with cops and are venting. Unfortunately these 90 pounders become Superman when they are typing at home and safe. Face to face they would cower trust me. I am giving you a straight honest answer from my experience.. All my best

do you ask this question everyday, i think all police officers finished high school maybe you did not, thats why this question is asked over and over, they were goal oreinted and actually wanted to make a difference. look everyone cant be a cop sorry you did not pass the background you need to let it go, i hear its easy being a security guard maybe you should try that. or get some professional help.

The "kind of person" one was in highschool has nothing to do with what a person becomes after graduation.
As a teacher for over 40 years, I have had students I believed were going to end up in jail who are now teachers, principals, and superintendents in the public school system! Two students I predicted would become alcoholics and career criminals are now attorneys!

My dad is a police officer and from what I've been told he was kinda a jerk. My uncles are too though and I've been told they were pretty cool. So, I guess they're just like regular people.

The outgoing people. Most cops are the people that love to talk and are good at talking.
