How long do cold sores last? My boyfriend thinks he has one on his upper lip and refuses to kiss me so I don't get it! It's driving me nuts. The same thing happened in Feb. of last year and he wouldn't kiss me for awhile but I can't remember how long it took to go away.

It takes like 7-10 days. If you get herpicin L or abreva it will shorten the time. He is very smart not to let you kiss him. Also I will add, dont have oral sex. If you do let him you will get genital herpes. Cold sores are stage one herpes. I actually contracted genital herpes like that. You do NOT want them!!! So you weigh it out no kissing or oral sex for a few or genital herpes for life or getting cold sores yourself off and on forever. Hope I answered your question. Good Luck. It varies. If you want them to go away permanently, get some Tea Tree Oil. That stuff will kill the bacteria that causes cold sores but keep using it even after you don't see the sore anymore to make sure the germs are totally destroyed.
