I ate a plum today, but I only took one bite because I realised that the inside of the plum was hollow. I saw something glistening inside of the plum so I looked into the hollow and saw some transparent crystals. Then I shook the plum over my hand and the crystals fell out. They were spongy and looked like small pieces of clear jell-o! Anyone, if you know what this might be, please help!

Thanks

I am not sure what that stuff is. I have a lot of wild plum trees with those real tiny plums on them and some of them also have that jelloish crystal stuff on/in them. I also want to know what this could be.

Your plum had suffered a frost and the natural gelatin had drawn out of it and congealed away from the original cell wall. It is still edible but much better for cooking and turning into jelly since it has natural gelatin/pectin substance already in the center it will carry any fruit to jelly perfection. Good Luck!
