What adjustments are you willing to make in your life so we can elliminate the "need" for the cheap labor done by illegal immigrants?
For example, paying more for produce in the market, cleaning your own house, or paying more for it to be done, willing to live in an older house since the cheap construction workers will be gone, etc. What are you willing to give up?
I personally have no problem paying more for products and services, since the idea of secure borders is important to me, and I also think the bottom line might not be that much worse, considering how much we pay out for illegals to have a free ride on so many aspects of life. I can pay more for lettuce and clean my own toilet if it means our country doesn't turn into a 3rd world country.

Who is willing to take their crappy jobs? Well, this is why I am asking about paying MORE...since the wages for these jobs would have to go up. It's simple economics, the wage will rise to the point where the jobs are filled. It might mean $4 for a head of lettuce, etc.

Michael, You make such assumptions...claiming I do not like people from Mexico? I have several Mexican friends...strange thing is, they are all LEGAL. I also have friends from just about every other country South of Texas. If I hated them, why would I learn their language?
I understand that this country was basically built by immigrants...but that's just it, they BUILT it up, rather than tear it DOWN by expecting free healthcare, free schooling, welfare checks, etc.
It IS about secure borders, and not just from terrorists. Illegal immigration is doing more harm than terrorists are.

Kittybyebye, This country is not just "rich snobs". If those jobs actually paid decently, actual American citizens or legal immigrants would do them. Also, about the illegals becoming LEGAL...that's what we want, too. Legal immigrants. If they are illegal, they need to follow the procedure to become legal, but since they are out of status, etc. they would need to first leave the country to begin the process, etc. I personally see no reason in rewarding them for breaking the law.
Also, my family has been here for 4 generations, so no, my Grandmother was not an immigrant. regardless, those were different times. And, as I have already stated for Michael, THOSE immigrants were working together to BUILD a nation, not freeload.

Kitty, as you say, this country is in trouble for hiring illegal immigrants. I have to say I agree 100%.

Kitty, as you say, this country is in trouble for hiring illegal immigrants. I have to say I agree 100%. The sooner we remedy that, the sooner this country will begin to improve again, rather than turning into another banana republic, which is what we are headed for at the moment. The middle class will cease to exist, the rich will be able to extort anyone they wish, and we will just be an English speaking version of our neighbors to the South.

Oh no, I'll have to pay $1.25 for a head of lettuce instead of $1. However shall I survive?
I know I'll just start my own garden, but I don't know how I could ever manage harvesting, after all I'm an American and we just don't do that kind of work.
End sarcasm-
Yes, I'll gladly pay more for produce, I already clean my own house, and I do live in an older home (they are constructed better and have beautiful woodwork anyway)
Incidentally we don't need more new homes built we need to maintain the ones we have, new homes are themselves another problem in America, urban sprawl.

The talk of prices rising without illegals is just pro rhetoric. Prices have actually gone up and continue to rise with them here.
That said,I would be willing to make any adjustments. I am a firm believer in whatever it takes!

Of course not. I'm not a liberal idiot. But I'm not xenophobic either; I have no problem with legal entry. However, our country needs to be closed off to all future illegal immigrants-theres too many here now to deport- at least there's enough to provide a steady supply of workers for the bad jobs. A wall with rubber bullet gun turrets would be nice. Otherwise we might descend into Europe status, as our society collapses under the radical liberal's pressure to create a tyranny of the minority, meeting the needs of a slither of the population while ignoring the will of the majority.

I don't see why we should have to pay more for products made by US citizens. This influx of illegals has only been going on for the last 5 years, it's not like prices have dropped since they got here.
I think if they were no longer here we would end up paying less taxes. Right now we're paying for health care, roads and education for people who have no legal right to it.
You are completely correct about the US turning into a 3rd world country, the area where I live is turning into a cesspool, it's getting difficult to go into a store and be waited on by someone who speaks English.

Yes, but I doubt prices would rise that much.
My family owns two large farms which are profitable without hiring illegal aliens. It's easy to hire Americans when you pay a decent wage.

I would I think prices for goods are too cheap. Truthfully I do. I feel people have become to attached to having stuff. We've gotten fat because burgers are too cheap. I doubt lettuce would go up to $4. a head. The farmers could also import labor as well. THere was an article that agbusiness fired farm hands and hired Thai laborers to replace them. THe government fine them because they hired them on false pretenses. ( becasue they fired a large group it showed that tehre was no shortage of farm laborer). Also I prefer old houses. The new ones are crappy.

If prices go up, so be it. I will in no way support illegals or the idea of amnesty for them. To even suggest that is a serious insult to all of the people who immigrated here legally and went through the whole process like they were supposed to. Don't reward people who break the rules.

okay...great question....
i lived in so. california about 18 yrs ago
i bought a leather jacket at the mall for 259 bucks
i can buy one now for 49 bucks at sam's club
but...i also can buy one at target for 49 bucks...and walmart...
but there are also stores selling them for 249 bucks...
i used to have to save more to big ticket purchase items..but since we've gotten so many chinese products flooding our market, everythings gone to dollar store prices. i did see some financial/economy expert on tv like 2 yrs ago who said..."buy all you want now for low prices are on their way out soon, as the trade problems with china will only worsen and then things will go back to normal" .....so i do...i buy goodies to last a few years. and i do that because GOOD LUCK finding made in america at walmart anymore...odd...thats what their claim to fame was "all american products"..hmmm

I'm willing to pay the same price. I want the "powers that be" to take a pay decrease. I want working class folks to achieve and prosper, not just get by. It's time to enact corporate responsibility. They wouldn't exist without us. Time to enforce the laws regarding immigration and have accountability to multi nationals. You want to make a buck? Well, the rules are simple, you will no longer be protected by capitalist rules if you don't follow them yourself. Capitalism can only exist if there is an even and fair playing field. Otherwise it is oligarchy, corporatism, etc....
