I'm thinking of going to either New Hampshire or Vermont. I need greenery and fresh air.

Upstate: Woodstock, New York!
If you don't want to drive, take the Trailways Bus, from Port Authority to Woodstock.
It's a quiet village, pizza parlor, you don't need a car.
Ask someone where you can park your car, if you don' want to walk. There is a sandwich shop.
There are a few inns. I recommend Woodstock "Inn on the Millstream."
Many of the bands that played at Woodstock stayed at the Inn on the Millstream.
Van Morrison and others.
Get up early for the complimentary breakfast. You can sit outside and listen to the gurgling stream, or inside with the Innkeeper. Coffe, fruit, juice, cheese, etc. It's a quaint set-up.
There are photo galleries with pictures from the Woodstock Festival.
Since you have two girls, call and ask if you can have the "house."
It has a very large bedroom for your girls to share and you can sleep in the small room.
There is a kitchen, not equipped very well.
Shop at Hurley Market. Ask someone to direct you Hurley Market.
Like me, I live in NYC.
I enjoy the drive up the mountain roads, during the day.
There are few art galleries, sometimes there are performances of plays.
The local newspaper is "The Woodstock Times. "
There is a wine store, a vegetarian store, and Hurley Market which sells delicious fresh vegetables, etc.
Joshua's is a good restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
There is a restaurant that has decent hamburgers.
There is a Chamber of Commerce, but it not usually open! (Its' a sleepy li'l village).
Many rock 'n'rollers from "back in the hippie day," live in Woodstock."
There is a lake, I don't remember the name, where you and the girls can sit have lunch, put yor feet in the lake.
There are hiking trails, be careful, if you and the girls are not seasoned hikers, it's easy to get lost in the woods.
Hopefully, the Chamber of Commerce, on Rock-City Road is open and you can get maps, etc.
You can drive to Kingston, New York. Go to the Kingston Mall. There is a movie theater in the Kingston Mall, Sears and most of the stores you find in most cities.
I think movie tickets are $2.00, unlike the fortune we pay to see a movie in the Big Apple!
The bus stops in center of town.
I usually return on the last bus, Sunday evening.
