I am 36 and morbidly obese. It wasn't all that long ago that my doctor listened to my heart and all seemed fine.
Here lately I have been experiencing a dull ache across my chest, BUT it is only at night. Could it be anxiety? Or possibly indigestion? My doctor put me on 150mg of Zantac and I have been on it for about a year now. I do have a lot of anxiety, but have never had an anxiety attack that I am aware of. Do you think this could be more serious? I figured chest pains were worse than a dull ache across the chest...but it does feel like it is tightening a bit when it does that too. Thank you everyone!

If it is only at night then chances of it being heart related are not as great as it being your reflux needs more attention. Anxiety attacks are more sudden and very obvious! If you are anxious and it is just worse at night then you should ask your dr. about a low dose anti-depressant. That could even help you with your weight if you get the right one. You HAVE to go to your doctor like tomorrow no matter what!! Ask him/her about your blood pressure, maybe some blood-work, and an EKG for your heart just to be sure. Heart symptoms do present differently in women than in men, so it could still be your heart. Please get checked out right away! God bless!

Anxiety will just build till you eventually have an attack. If you havn't experienced one yet, you don't want to. I take Zoloft for mine. I had anxiety towards too manythings for a long time and it finally burst and had a full on attack. It feels like your dying. Or at least you will think you are. Ask anyone that has had one or more. They are really scary. So get some zoloft or similiar, by the way they do make it hard for both sexs to have an orgasam if they is an issue for you.

I think in almost every instance of someone on Yahoo Answers of someone asking "Should I see a doctor" that answer is almost always YES.
Any medical condition or recurring pain such as you describe could be symptomatic of a larger problem, and you can never get something diagnosed to soon.
So go to your doctor. It might be nothing more than a side effect of your weight, or it could be something major.
Going to the doctor will give you one less thing to feel anxiety about.

That sounds like angina. If I were you I'd go on a natural medicine that my husband's grandma took because you can take it safely with all your prescriptions.
Obesity and heart attacks go hand in hand I'm afraid.
Of course you should get checked out by a doctor but even if your heart sounds fine this won't check for cholesterol blocking your heart. Get him or her to do a full work-up.

A constant dull ache could be bad too .. I don't think its anxiety, you'd know it ... it could be because of the weight of your body on your chest at night. You may want to look into it ..
Be careful

If you are obese, one thing that can trouble you in night is Rifflux Oesophagitis (Acid rifflux). So, ask your doctor to check you out and if needed, see a gastroenterologist. Many of the symptoms mimic heart problems.

See a dr. ASAP. I have heard that people don't always have chest pains when having a heart attack. Get it checked out soon.

could be side affects on the pills , but i know there is to much weight on your chest right now, lose it you might loose pain and tightness also, . just my opinion, sorry if offended.

it is possily either acid reflux or anxiety. It would also be the stress of your weight pushing down on your body. PLease see a doctor and a therapist for your food addiction.
