Personally, I believe this is a wonderful idea. I think that it's the most ideal place to cultivate a Christ-like life. If anything, this place is not for everyone- you've got to be pretty much spiritually "on your game." Not a lot of people would be willing to give up what it takes to live in a place like this; exactly how many people refuse to give up their iniquities as is.

Also, it's slightly aggravating to know that the government will be the ultimate downfall of this community. Frankly, in a couple of decades, I think this community will fall apart because it so strictly enforces its values. For example: say a secretly gay couple moves in, they're caught and banned, a discrimination lawsuit is enacted, the community is forced to make reparations, and a new amendment to their town doctrine has to be made to allow further couples in. I don't think this town has enough money to face the continual lawsuits that it's going to face from angry sinners who want to live in a place where they can FEEL like they are not living in a continual state of sin.

But maybe that's just me.

I'd love it. And I really don't understand why non-Catholics are fussing and fuming about this; it amounts to a gated community, which are all over the place, and folks can certainly choose NOT to live there. My family is not in a position to pull up stakes and move in, but if we could? Absolutely, in a heartbeat.

I am Catholic and I'm with Granny. If I could make the move, I would do so with my family in an instant. What is wrong with surrounding yourself with people of similar faith and ideals?

Nope..

I can think of many things I would rather do than live in a town controlled by and populated by religious nuts cases... Such as dental surgery without Novocaine, listening to my sister sing opera (it sounds like a cow being tortured in a blender during a tornado) and jump in a swimming pool filled with double edged razor blades (Thanks Weird Al Yankovich)...
