It depends on the kind of Yoga. My speciality is Physical (Hatha), Yoga, which is designed to balance the body through a series of asanas, meaning "comfortable poses". These poses help balance the endocrine, circulatory, and nervous systems, helping you to remain emtionally balanced and physically healthy. The main idea is to help you focus and meditate, seeing your attachments, fear, hate, anger, love, infatuation all move to the side and allow you to approach them rationally, and in the end, feel emotionally and physically better.

Please don't confuse these exercises with muscle training, which help burn fat and increase tensile strength. Yoga with help with your metabolism inasmuch as it helps balance your body in all ways. While Yoga does improve flexibility and tone, it should be used with a comprehensive exercise program that includes weight and cardio work
