Both are very fine cars. The Lexus is owned by Toyota, but the IS350 is a Lexus only model and does not share allot of parts with other Toyota models.
I own a 2005 Acura TL and has been a great car with no issues. The one benefit is the price, it is by far one of the best values in the luxury market. At $38,225, it is fully loaded, you might need to spend more $$$ to get a comparable equipped Lexus IS350 with the same features.
The BMW 328i is a excellent car as well, less HP than a Lexus or Acura, but it is faster than many people think. The 335i does compare better horsepower wise. The BMW will run closer $44,000 with the features of the Acura. The BMW is the best overall package driving wise, but it comes at a cost.
You might want to look at a Infiniti G35 as well, which compares very well..

If the Lexus IS350 is underpowered and slow, what does that make the Type S?
Lexus IS350: 306hp@6400 RPM 277 ft/lbs @4800 RPM
Acura TL Type-S: 286hp@6200 RPM 256@5000 RPM
And Toyota's reputation for reliability is at least as good as Honda's (Acura is a fancied up Honda as much as Lexus is a Toyota).
The Infiniti G35 is the other Japanese car typically compared with these. The G35 and IS350 are both RWD, I would take either of these over the TL, which is FWD.
The BMW is nice but overpriced. You'd have to go to the 335 to match the power in these cars, for far more money.

if ur going for looks, us hould bye the lexus , the bmw and the acura are nice but they dont look as expensive as the lexus. but when it comes to comfort its tied between the acura and the bmw. The lexus feels too crowded and the head room is poor. But if ur loooking for a car that has both charecteristics and will last u a long time then i would pick the acura. Its reallly comfortable and its built buy honda so that is a gaurantee. the only thing i dont like about it is that since so many people have it its starting to look old.. good luck

purchase what 'turns your crank'... The BMW is a much better dealing with vehicle...extra sophisticated on the line...a real driving force's game sedan with an increadible legacy. The Lexus is sweet, even with the undeniable fact that it won't preserve like a BMW. the three series is a staggering assessment nonetheless as a results of fact it fairly is BMW's smallest sedan, and the IS series is interior the comparable length type. The Lexus is a extra luxury vehicle...numerous centers with a lots nicer indoors. The IS350 is likewise lots speedier in linear acceleration than a 325i. The Lexus will additionally be lots extra sturdy & extra low fee to function over the long haul. The IS300 is Toyota's first bypass at construction a sporty, upscale sedan. individually, I they appear to be what Toyota could do to a Corolla to make it a activities vehicle...the IS300 is the size of a compact. Re linear acceleration, the IS would be lots speedier than the BMW325i nonetheless. IMO & between those 2 automobiles, it can be a troublesome determination. i think of it comes all the way down to luxury-acceleration-upscale indoors vs. better dealing with journey-legacy of 'the main suitable using device'.
