gatecrasher = intruder - the person that was not invited to a party or "any kind of celebration", goes, participates anyway! this person does that cz of the fun! he/her enjoys it without shyness!

A gate crasher is someone who is not invited, usually to a party or wedding or other private get together, but goes any way. This uninvited guest either cons his way in or literally "crashes the gate" barring his entrance.

similar to the term wedding crasher, which refers to people who attend wedding receptions uninvited for the free food and drinks-a gate- crasher is one who gains entrance to an event such as a concert or movie without the benefit of a ticket....i.e., sneaks in!

It comes from the idea of someone coming to a party or event without being invited... they get in by crashing the gate. In a larger sense, it could mean someone who's presence is unappreciated or unwelcome. A person who makes everyone else uncomfortable.
