A gate crasher is someone who is not invited, usually to a party or wedding or other private get together, but goes any way. This uninvited guest either cons his way in or literally "crashes the gate" barring his entrance.

It comes from the idea of someone coming to a party or event without being invited... they get in by crashing the gate. In a larger sense, it could mean someone who's presence is unappreciated or unwelcome. A person who makes everyone else uncomfortable.

Someone who lets themself into a function, uninvited.
Later: Normally, I don't care if I get a thumbs-down, but every answer here essentially agrees with me. Is this because I got in first?
