It is clearly written in the bible that earth was created in 7 days and that earth is only over 6,000 years old. Now science has proven them wrong, so the slippery christians go all the way and say that those numbers are not to be taken literally??!! If 7 days does not mean 7 days, then why would the author bother writing the word "Day" at all? Days, weeks, months, years, and etc., are not random durations made up from scratch! They are calculated from earth's circulation around itself and around the sun! The bottom line is that when you believe in something, you must take what you have and stand by that! You can't change the content of what you believe in inorder to benefit your own belief! Either you believe what the entire book says or don't believe it at all!

Science has not proven the Biblical account of creation wrong - you are mistaken. You may have been told that science has disproven it, but my guess is you are just parroting something that someone else has said and that you can't really tell me what "evidence" you or anyone else has that creation didn't happen as the Bible says. I have never heard a reputable scientist claim to have this evidence. Cite your references - prove your statements. If you can't, then you need to think critically and not believe everything you're told.

The creation happened in a literal 7-day period (actually 6-days) just like the Bible says. If each of these "days" was millions of years long, how did plants (created on the 3rd) day survive without the sun (created on the 4th day) for that long? I think he did it in this order on purpose so that we would know that these were literal days.

He intends for us to take his word seriously, as it is, unadulterated, on faith. When we start to believe only the portions of the Bible that make sense to us or that make us feel good, then we have made ourselves the authority on what's true and what's not - aka God, and that approach is of diabolical origin.

I have MUCH more respect for someone that totally rejects the Bible than for someone who claims to believe it, yet discards the parts that they don't feel comfortable with.

Some people falter in their beliefs.

I would be careful with what you say is proven. There is no proof that I have seen as to the age of anything. All the scientific theories suggest and surmize. It's really a best guess sort of thing. It cannot be proven due to the fact we don't know different factors pertaining to assumptions (yes assumptions) for radio carbon dating and ratios of certain radioactive isotopes we use to measure an objects age.

The fossil record is also a best guess.

The Christians who don't take their bible literally have caved when they should have not.

The best guessers have to keep on getting better guesses until they get it right.

I won't even go into white hole physics and time dilation.

Let's just say, rethink what you believe is "scientifically proven"

Where are you getting this information from? You can not judge Christianity by what a few Christians say, just as it goes for race. By the way, please explain what you are talking about because I am a Christian and what does the earth being created in 7 days have to do with the earth being over 6000 years old? And by the way, the earth was created in 6 days and everyone should know what he did on the seventh day.

Your question is posed on the level of the fundamentalist. Many Christians are not fundamentalists. "Day" in Hebrew can mean day in your sense or time period or age. Even in English, we say, "In my day, we didn't allow this!" The age of the Earth isn't specified in the Bible. Six thousand years is a modern calculation based on the assumption that the genealogies in Genesis are complete and continuous since the beginning of the human race. The Book of Genesis is Hebrew mythology written to explain the time of origins. It was passed on orally for generations (with linguistic mutations) before being written down. I encourage you to explore Genesis with an open mind as a work of literature, held sacred by billions of people.

Not all Christians believe that the earth was created in 7/24 hour days. According to the Bible’s opening statement, the universe, including our planet Earth, was in existence for an indefinite time before the creative days began.

The Hebrew word translated “day” can mean various lengths of time, not just a 24-hour period.

Genesis 2:4 speaks of “the day that God made earth and heaven.” This one day encompasses all six of the creative days of Genesis chapter 1. According to Bible usage, a day is a measured period of time and can be a thousand years or many thousands of years. The Bible’s creative days allow for thousands of years of time each.( 2 Peter 3:8--a day to God is like a thousand years)

Whoever you think you are,
Our FATHER created all things on and about this earth in Seven Days. Science has never proven otherwise because it is TRUE. This earth is about 6,000 years old. That is also true. I am sorry that you hold a different belief and do not understand that GOD can do all things. That is just the way it is. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds

PS...
I have never said anything contrary to this and Never will!

It's not a matter of seven not meaning seven. That would be logically absurd.

There are some places among the poetic and prophetic books that speak of "day" as a non-24-hour period of time (e.g. "the day of the Lord"). This has led some Christians, who are lured by Darwinism, to speculate that the "day" (Heb. "yom") actually refers to an era rather than a 24-hour period. Grammatical studies of the use of the term "yom," however, rule out this possibility. "Yom" means "24-hour day" in the first chapter of Genesis. As a "young-earth creationist" I share your disdain for those who compromise on this point, but perhaps you can see why some Christians suggest a day in Genesis corresponds with an era. Thanks for asking.

I hear ya on that, but it's got something to do with interpreting it differently, though if you also look at it that way, the people who take some parts literally and others not, THAT is the wrong thing...it's either all or nothing, no middle ground on that one. You either believe that God spoke to Moses through a burning bush and it was all meant to be taken literally ((7 24 hour days)) or t be taken figuratively, you decide, one or the other.

The book does not change the meaning of the seven days is explained and was explained many years before science attempted to determined the age of the world. God is not subject to time it is explained for your benefit also God is not in need of rest but on the seventh day he rested. These have meanings that you would do good to seek God's revelation on. Jesus is not a literal Rock or Lamb but is the lamb of God. The seventh day Sabbath is also referred to as the day of the lord so is the millennium which is one thousand years...
When you worship God please understand he is an eternal spirit and we worship him in spirit and truth...We are also not literally born again when we say we are saved it is by faith we claim this promise.

It's simple - they don't know why its not 7 days, why it stated 7 days, have no proves of that 7 days.

Plus, it's proven that Bible just a handwriting of human mistakes and discrepencies (human limitation not knowing the truth) as most of the facts in it is proven wrong.

Thus, they give u simple answer "do not take it literally". That's the only answer they can think off. If u asked more questions of all facts in Bible and they don't know the answer they will say it again "do not take it literally".

It's a way to cover themselves.
