Well if the Jetta is a 2.5 I5 engine you can use regular unleaded gas but if the engine is 2.0 I4 turbocharged than you have to put premium gas on it.
So just put the recommended gas on your car otherwise you can mess your car and the performance is gonna be terrible than is not good.....

A couple years ago, I had a car which I was using super unleaded because somebody told me it would be better for my vehicle. Nope.... I took it in to the dealer for a problem that I was having (hesitation) and they took a sample of my fuel. I almost had to pay out of pocket because I wasn't using the " required fuel " that is in the owners manual which was regular unleaded. Read the manual or ask the DEALER.

this is a German car like the Japanees they use high compresion to make power. this means the higher octane you use the more power you will make, however this does have its limits. check the manual or the door of the gas tank it should tell you most of the time they use 97 octane. you can use the middle grade but i would use a highly refined fuel like texico cheveron moble or shell to avoid carbon build up.

In the U.S. and if its not turbo you should use 87 octane gas. If you really feel like not using cheap gas then go with the BP's or Shell or Mobil gas.

Check in the owner's manual. I would think that it takes 87 octane. Regular, that is.
Double check this though. Don't use anything over the recommended octane, it is like throwing money away.

Save yourself money and just buy regular gas. It's not going to kill your car, and there's really no NEED to have the expensive stuff.
