The options are Li Orolate or the Li Carbonate. One is all natural and one is pharmacutical. The doctor has given the option of either one and I dont know anyone who has tried either.

Let his doc help decide-Some things work better for some people than others.

Sometimes with Bipolar it is different brain chemicals that are out of balance-so Lithium may be perfect for one and not work for someone else.

Also, make sure he is getting therapy in addition to medication. As he ages he will face more symptoms of the Bipolar and not all of them are managed by meds.

You can help by tracking his moods and starting to get a feel for when he is depressed and when he is in a normal between phases period and when he is manic. It will help you give him some space especially when he is manic. Remember this is not something he can help. It is truly biological. He needs therapy especially in the very vulnerable depressed period.

Bipolar's experience depression much more strongly than other people who are depressed. Also, keep in mind that Bipolar sufferers have the highest suicide rates, and substance abuse rates.

Lithuim, at first, kinda sucks(so I've heard) but once you get use to it, it can work wonders.....I think. That's what I've heard.
