gaining strength is a function of training. if you use progressive resistance and keep your caloric intake the same you won't gain any weight. exercise only provides the stimulus to the muscles and to the CNS, the diet ultimately determines the size of the body

probably won't gain much strength without gaining weight. now if you bulk up a bit, like to 160 170ish, you'll gain strength, then if you get back down to 145, you may gain some strength, but i dont know everyones different.

Yes, eat more lean proteins, veggies and complex carbs and work those muscles.

I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs and gain better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs for more than a year.
