Single army, superior tech, the best we have to offer today. Infinite equipment. And transports so that they may reach target areas within 24 hours.

50,000 ground troops, some artillery, and some tanks. 1 fleet.1 station of aircraft.

Can they conquer the globe?

How is it science fiction? It's more hypothetical.

Have we become so advanced that we can kill thousands at a time, rather than one on one?

Can you imagine a large formation of Romans, etc advancing on an entrenched machine gun? Total devastation.

You could take an Abrams and run down entire armies, without firing a shot.

Snipers could take out kings and commanders at 1000+ meters.

Bunker buster bombs, cluster bombs, napalm - utter devastation.

Helicopter gunships could hover above, firing rockets and machine guns at will, with little fear of return fire.

One battleship with infinite ammo would most likely defeat even the largest armada.

Yeah, I think that they'd conquer the world. We would take some losses. Then there would be mechanical failures.

If the world was as divided as it was historically, then I'd say yes. However, if nations were somehow able to unite in common cause against these invaders (if another person from the future warned them, for example), they might be able to put up a decent fight. The ancient world wouldn't stand a chance, it'd have to be around 1750 A.D. The European nations of that time could supply firearms and ammunition to other nations. It'd take some amazing generals to organize such armies, though.

Probably could if there was enough logistical support. You'd have to have an awful lot of fuel to conquer the world.
