4th-"Remember the Sabbath Day and keep it Holy"
I used to be a Baptist, but got fed up with the 10 Commandment retoric and the leaving out of the 4th one. When asked I would be told "We are under Grace not Law, no need to follow old number 4, but you have to keep those others or go to HELL." Why leave out the 4th? It is b/c it is inconvienent? A part of Satan's plan? And no, I don't believe we have lost track of time and Sunday is really the seventh day or Jesus decreed that we change.

First of all, I have never read any of EG White's writings. I probably never will. At any rate I only accept her a tool just as I would any biblical writings. I came to my conclusions by reading the Bible only.
To those of you who may not know what I mean by "pound" on the 10 commandments: Here in the Bible Belt there are rallies, marches, court cases to put the commandments in public places, and over half the yards in my town have 10 commandment signs in them.

This question is not one of should we go on Saturday, but instead WHY CHURCHES ACKNOWLEDGE THE OTHER 9!
Stick to the topic.
Also:
What right did the disciples have to change God's Law?
And:
Careful of quoting scripture out of context.
Isaiah 1:13 Is speaking to the Judgement of Judah and how sin is separating the people from God
Revelation 1:10 in my bible only says "On the Lord's Day" not Sunday
Nobody can quote one scripture that states- "Jesus said start going on Sunday."
Finally I say: Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he? Isaiah 2:22 NIV

Matthew 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
IF GOD CONVICTS YOU OF SOMETHING YOU NEED TO FOLLOW THE SPIRIT!
I agree with dee, tebone315 and His Way. God has revealed this to you also. Jesus said if you love me keep my comandments. Jesus did not come to do away with the law but rather to fulfill it and put it in our hearts. I can tell by the way you speak of this he has put it in your heart too.
Do not let these deceivers get to you, God is showing you this. The Catholic Church has changed this day, the book of Daniel spoke of changeing times and laws, I believe this is the Catholic Church Daniel is speaking of.
Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
The commandment was to keep the sabbath on the seventh day. It is a day of rest God created for his people. Remember our bodys are the temple of the Holy Ghost. A tired and wore out body is not very useful to the Lord.
Mark 2:27 & 28
27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
Exodus 31:15-17
15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord:whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
In verse 16 and 17 it is a perpetual covenant forever. Where does forever end?
We know the sabbath day is a commandment.
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my comadments.
Read:
Exodus 20:11
Genesis 2:2&3
Matthew 5:17-19
Matthew 24:20 But pray your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabath day.
Jesus was talking about the sabbath day well into the New Testament. Why would he mention it if it wasn't important?
The Sabbath Day and Sabbath days are different things. The Sabbath Day is the 7th day, a comandment. There were other sabbath days in the law.
Here is a link to sabbath mentioned in the bible. If you would like to study more on this.

You are so right. I grew up understanding the seventh day Sabbath. As a young adult I left church for a number of years. I married someone who was Baptist. We decided to start going to church. He wanted to go to a Baptist church. I agreed to go. We went through some classes in order to become members. I asked the Sabbath question. All the pastor could say was. "I don't know, but if you prefer there is a seventh day Baptist church not far from here." Interesting.
I have heard that many pastor's from Sunday keeping churches admit that Saturday is the Sabbath. For some reason they still refuse to accept the truth and to change.
You are on the right track. Keep searching. We need to follow all God's commandments. There is a text in the Bible. I don't remember where it is so you might want to look it up. But it says that if we break one commandment we are guilty of all. God never changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. There is not one text in the Bible that tells us so.
The Sabbath was changed by the Pope. If you read the Catholic catecism, it actually says in there that they admit that they changed the Sabbath. In Catholic paper I have read where the Pope has said that the Catholic church is the only church that should be worshiping on Sunday, and that all of the Protestant chruches should not be. All Sunday keeping denominations are following after the Catholic church not God or the Bible. The Bible says that all the world wanders after the beast, the Holy Roman Empire.

Hi Biology Teacher! Great question. I was once a Baptist, but I begin to take Bible study more serious as a young teenager. A friend of mind open my mind to a deeper study of the Sabbath as recorded in the Ten Commandments. I even went to my Baptist Minister to inquire about the Sabbath. He readily admitted that Saturday is the seventh-day of the week and is the Sabbath day. I was amazed as a teenager to hear this from my Pastor. I knew he was quite knoweledgeable of the Bible but I didn't think he had studied the sabbath issue. He also admitted that the only reason why the Baptist church worshipped on sunday was more out of church tradition.
I decided a long time ago after that conversation that i would not choose traditon over God's Commandment. I have been attending a Seventh-day Adventist church on sabbath(saturday) for many years. This is the best decision I have made in this life, and God has blessed me abundantly because of my faithfulness to him.
Other denominations clearly know the truth, but choose to see the Sabbath as a non-essential. I rather follow Jesus in all things rather than to pick and choose between essentials and non-essentials. Jesus says if you love me keep my commandments. John 14:15.

Hello, Biology Teacher:
I used to edit a Christian newspaper, and did a telephone interview of several pastors.
Seems the Catholics think we should keep Sunday, and for those who feel it is Saturday, they hold Saturday night Mass. As you know, that is biblically Sunday. I asked if they had Friday evening Mass--NO!
Pentecostal churches feel the law was abolished by Jesus. I can't find that; in fact, His mission was to "magnify the law and make it honorable." And that he did by saying if you even think of breaking the law, you have already sinned.
Mainstream churches teach the ten-commandments, for sure, but they feel the early church changed that obligation to Sunday because Jesus resurrected then. Not true, because the resurrection and Pentecost experience was typified in the Old Testament, so those symbols fulfilled and will never be kept throughout eternity; in fact, Isaiah 66:23 tells us the Sabbath will be kept throughout eternity.
You can read more on this as a Bible code proves Jesus is the Messiah and identifies the Abomination of Desolation that Jesus warned us about. Select http://abiblecode.tripod.com

The Sabbath is still Saturday and is still holy.
The Lord's Day is Sunday
In Matthew 18:18, Jesus Christ gave the other Apostles the power of binding and loosening, but He did not give them the keys.
The Apostles did this as shown very plainly in Scripture in Acts 20:7,
"And on the FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK, WHEN WE HAD MET FOR THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD, Paul addressed them..."
Right here is the beginning of Sunday worship.
Lord's day, Sunday, is Biblical, I offer the following:
Biblical references to happenings on Sunday, the first day of the week...
1. Jesus Christ rose from the dead on Sunday, Lk 24:1-12
2. Christ appeared to the disciples on the road to Emmaus, and celebrated the Eucharist on Sunday, Lk 24:13
3. Jesus appeared to the disciples behind closed doors, Jn 20:19
4. Jesus appeared to the disciples with Thomas one week later, Jn 20:26 NAB
5. Jesus opened the minds of the Apostles to the Scriptures, Lk 24:45
6. The Apostles received their 'Great Commission' to go and teach all nations, Mt 28:1-20.
7. The Apostles were given the Holy Spirit and the power to forgive sins, Jn 20:19-23.
8. Jesus told the Apostles to wait in the city until they were to be clothed with power from on high, Lk 24:49.
9. On the seventh Sunday after the resurrection, the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles,
Acts 2:1-4.
10. Immediately after receiving the Holy Spirit, Peter gave a powerful address on the Gospel resulting in 3000 conversions, Acts 2:41.
11. The Apostles met for the Holy Eucharist on the 'first' day, Acts 20:7.
12. The Apostles set the 'first' day of the week for the Churches to take up the collections,
1Cor 16:1-2.
Might I also add that being a Catholic I celebrate the Lord's Day everyday.

Perhaps Paul can explain it better than I. You may be surprised at the conclusion:
Colossians 2
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
So Sunday, Saturday, Wednesday, or Friday, it doesn't matter because like the Passover, the Sabbath was a shadow of things to come. In other words, it doesn't matter what day, Christ is our Sabbath, and Christ is our life of Faith.
So I, by these verses know that I am not to judge, neither am I to be judged on what day, the same as where I worship is not the be judged. ( John 4: 20 - 24)

Baptists, like all other Christians, carry much of the Sabbatic laws into their Sunday celebrations. The early church met on Saturdays and Sundays, but eventually saw the Saturday meetings as something tied to the Jewish nation rather than to God's people among the Gentiles.
Perhaps your point would've been better made if you'd singled out the tenth commandment. Christians blow that much more often than the fourth.

You're on the right track Sis. Just be careful not to be pulled to far into some of the new messianic cults out there. Saturday is and always will be Sabbath.
There should never stand a Pastor behind a pulpit that hasn't studied church history and received the revelation you just mentioned. Pray for these denominationalist Sis. God really loves them and want to draw them to the truth as well.
Blessings.
Jer 16:19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

THE THIRD COMMANDMENT IS: Remember the Sabbath Day . When abiding by the Laws of God, we are not to leave out any of the Commandments. The Fourth Commandment is a very important one, as are the others. The Fourth Commandment is the only one with a promise. Here it is:
Honor thy Father and thy Mother, so your days will be long upon the land which the Lord thy God, hath given thee.
what does this mean ?
We should fear and love God, so that we do not despise our parents and superiors, nor provoke them to anger, but honor , serve and obey , love and esteem them. You are mistaken about the Fourth Commandment.
The Third Commandment is: Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it Holy. You can not leave any Commandment out. It is not right !! No one can judge where we are to go, excepts God. It is terrible to tell people they are going to hell, as only God knows where we will go, when we die. Find another church that will help you find the true way. Good Luck. God bless you, Always !!

that is why I went to the 7th day Adventist church.....got fed up with the double talk...would be reading in my Bible with the sermon and what he said was not what I read....(??)
What happened to the 4th commandment? remember the Sabbath day and keep it Holy....
that church, as many others have, build a wrong theology on a verse taken out of context...."the breaking of bread on the first day of the week and he addressed them".....they got together for a meal and conversation...it was pot luck at someones house not worship!!
I accepted this wrong information and blindly went to that type of church for many years...
I have never heard anything preached SDA that is contrary to the Bible...it is right there in the KJV as he speaks.....
And Paul's comment regarding the Sabbath was in regard to certain celebration type Sabbaths that were celebrated according to the Jewish calendar.... Paul did not in any way remove the 4th commandment or it's importance as the day of worship....
Yes, I agree that part of the deception of the wrong day of worship is part of Satan's plan....
the comment regarding Ellen White....the test of the Prophets in Deuteronomy.. explain how she passed all the test of a prophet?
Before God does something he always informs his prophets....this is in the Bible....we are also told to beware of the false ones who will come in his name......
she shared her knowledge with the world.........and none of it has proven false......can this be said of the others?
